Long post ahead...
βIt came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.β
There are truly no words to describe how we feel about losing you, It has taken several days to really realize that you are gone. I came into your life over two years ago, and you accepted my fur babies and human babies as your own. You were there as we created a new little life for you to love and protect. You may not be here physically but I still feel you with us. I will miss seeing your big stretches when I come home and I will miss watching your Dad give you all the scratches. I will always save my last piece of bagel in the morning for you. I will still listen for your click clacking on the floor when you try to sneak on the couch when we are sleeping. You may not have been able to hear on this earth but I know you are listening to all the beautiful sounds where you are. Your Dad and I miss you so much. You truly were "one of the good ones". May your soul and spirit find peace and be waiting for us. Run free Puppers, until we see you again....
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Thank you Marcus Dickerson for being there for us during our goodbyes..You are a true friend
