This is 3 different places in Gadsden county all from this week!!! Wtf is wrong with people and how is this ok!!!! When is someone actually going to start making these animals care a priority and a crime when not caring for them!!!!

Thank you AME for doing this story on Spirit! Had a sit down with our county sheriff and investigator Youmans a week ago and was told that they didn't feel it was animal cruelty. It wasn't their fault he was hit by a car...and that we couldn't prove it was their dog. I guess eye witness statements don't count for a thing in this county. The animals in this whole area are failed continuously, every single day!!!

Please share Spirits story and help him get justice!!!!

So at this point they are going to get away scott free from this!!! I filed a report 3 weeks ago and I haven't gotten anything at all back from the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office - Morris A. Young, Sheriff...NOTHING!!! Maybe its time to set up a protest and show them this behavior is unacceptable! I also requested a meeting with the sheriff and also have heard nothing at all! When I called again this morning I was told he was out...FOR 3 WEEKS! Must be nice!
PLEASE CALL THEIR OFFICE CONTINUALLY UNTIL WE GET JUSTICE FOR SPIRIT!!! (850) 627-9233

DO NOT BUY DOGS FROM THE AMISH

We get calls every week from dog owners that have purchased a dog from the Amish, only to find out that their new best friend has significant issues to overcome. Unfortunately, dogs that come from the Amish do tend to have significant, lifelong behavioral problems.

For a quick background, the overwhelming majority of Amish “breeders” are not properly breeding dogs. They don’t breed for health, temperament, or the betterment of the breed, they breed exclusively for money. They are PUPPY MILLS.

Let’s say for example that they are breeding French bulldogs. They find a male and a female, regardless of health or behavioral concerns, and make the breeding happen. No thought was put into the health or quality of life of the puppies that will come out. No health testing the parents, no behavioral/temperament testing of the parents, etc.

Once the puppies are born, they are essentially left in a room with the mother until they are ready to be sold. No enrichment, no health testing, no socialization, nothing. When a prospective buyer comes along and sees the dogs in these conditions, they either feel sorry for them, or they have no clue that this isn’t normal.

Because these puppies were never socialized or cared for properly, they develop significant fear and anxiety issues, as well as difficulty potty training and crate training. We are dealing with several cases of aggression towards people and dogs, and these dogs all came from the Amish.

This is textbook backyard breeding, but on a huge scale, and it has only grown and grown in recent years.

If you are looking to get a deal on a purebred dog, there is no such thing. If you don’t want to spend thousands on a well bred puppy from a reputable and ethical breeder, that’s totally fine. But buying a dog for a discounted rate from the Amish (in our experience) comes with significant baggage.

If you must have a certain breed of dog but can’t afford to go to a reputable and ethical breeder, do your research and find a rescue or shelter that has that breed of dog. They are still an unknown quantity because you don’t know anything about their history, but you won’t be perpetuating inhumane breeding practices.

****PUPDATE: I want to make sure that it is known that If Nikki the amazing amazon contract driver had not contacted us none of this would have ever happened and Spirit would have suffered for god knows how much longer!!! She is a perfect example
Of SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING!
I spent the entire day yesterday driving around and on the phone begging someone to do something. My first stop was my vets office who were so amazing the day before, they were slammed but made sure they came right out and got Spirit inside Champs Chance Inc to be evaluated and helped him cross the rainbow bridge with love and caring. We decided to send Spirit's xrays out to a radiologist to read so they could prove how long he suffered like that, hoping it strengthens the case if there even is one. Next stop was the sheriffs office after a long call with Animal Control. I filled out the forms and sat and waited for a deputy to come down, and waited and waited and waited. An hour into my waiting the deputy calls me...FROM MY HOUSE wanting to know where I am. LOST IT...blessed him out from there all the way to the State attorneys office. Go in and talk to them, actually know several of them and love them. It all comes back to the sheriffs office has to initiate the investigation. Leave there and go back to sherrifs office to meet deputy and go over report.
I can tell you now from living in this county for 26 years that nothing is going to happen at all to these people. I spent 2 years on another cruelty case with thousands of dogs being affected all the way to FDLE and nothing was ever done until recently when Quincy, PD got a new chief and detective. She got 102 animal cruelty MISDEMEANORS. PLEASE keep blowing their phones up, we have to take a stand and force change.

We are so grateful for the amount of support we have gotten in this! I can honestly say I was up most of the night hurting over this. I am headed to our vet to get record of yesterday then to animal control, sheriffs office and state attorney.
This situation is just a drop in a massive bucket of what we see so often.

We got a call to go out and help a pup who was in bad shape and couldn't use his back legs at all. It takes a lot for me to just break down crying but this sweet boy did it! The extent of his injuries were major. Looked up the address and found the wifes work listed and called her. She said the pup wasnt hers, said they rescued him after he got hit by a car which is COMPLETE BU****IT! I have a witness who said he didnt look like that at all about a month ago so it was absolutely their dog. I said you did a terrible job of "rescuing" him to let him suffer like this. Just owner surrender him to me so we can go straight to the vet and she did. Couldn't get animal control on the phone so just got him in the car and headed to vet. His spine was completely broken in half and it happened so long ago it had already started fusing back together with one piece on top of another. His pelvis was crushed, both legs broken and mangled beyond repair and cannot hold his bowels. CAN YOU FREAKING IMAGINE THE SUFFERING HE WENT THROUGH BEFORE IT JUST WENT NUMB!!!!! There was no options for him that would give him any quality of life so the only right decision was to not make him suffer anymore. Talked to animal control on the way to vet and they say they can't make a case because I left the property with him but i took pics there and have a witness to all of it so not sure what is going to happen. I could not leave him there another minute, he shattered my heart. I wanted to be with him when they put him to sleep, I wanted him to know someone cared and loved him! I am a strong ass person but knowing the amount of suffering he went through has brought me to my knees and the tears have not stopped flowing!
