Snuck some time in at the barn between clients today cause I was in the neighborhood 😍

Both of my girls were perfect angels! Dot especially… because she let me walk right up, halter her, pick her feet out, and take her blanket off without any sort of struggle or avoidance. This is YUGE!!! ✨ No more pit in my stomach or weird tension when we see each other!

I have been focusing on making our time together fun, low demand, and as short as possible. And the cherry on top… afterward she walked right up to me, curious and wanting more! 🥺

These results are a direct result of shifting my mindset from having an agenda (setting me up for failure automatically) to having fun and enjoying her company, whatever she wants to give me that day. ☺️👏🏻

🥂 Clinking my glass to myself today and celebrating this small win!

Satisfying trim for a super precious 2 year old filly 🫶🏻

Shout out to who has been working with her for a while to get her safe to be handled and did a phenomenal job! We did have Dorm on board to keep things safe for everyone but I was super impressed with her work on getting a solid foundation on a young horse 💗 It makes my life so much easier ☺️😆

Why I can trim any horse…. And so can you!

While I was back in AZ, I got to work on some client horses who had a bad rap for being “difficult” for trims again. With a patient and cooperative approach, I had successfully done trims on these horses for months, but they rapidly reverted back to previous behaviors with new professionals when I moved.

I’m talking rearing, kicking, snatching and slamming hooves down… the whole deal.

This got me thinking about why that would be. Why “just a little girl” could trim the horses that were downright unmanageable for everyone else. And why the horses struggled with others, when they did relatively well for me.

I realized it all boils down to my mindset. I have a few key beliefs when it comes to hoofcare that allow me to trim almost any horse with minimal struggle.

Number 1:
Horses are communicating with every behavior they present to me, even the dangerous ones.

When we view behavior as simply communication, we do not allow our own emotions to get in the way of the conversation. I don’t take the horse’s behavior personally, and therefore don’t get upset because it doesn’t mean anything about me.

Number 2:
Horses want to cooperate with me. Horses don’t have ‘attitudes’ and don’t want to fight with me.

This goes hand in hand with the first one. I don’t believe there is a domestic horse out there who isn’t trying to cooperate with humans on some level.

Horses are master energy readers. And I believe horses know the truest intentions in your heart. So when my intention is to help them in a cooperative way, they typically accept it.

Number 3:
I can communicate with horses and they understand me clearly.

This is true of every human being. Everyone has the ability to create an intention and talk with horses on an energetic level. But this only works when we truly believe it.

This doesn’t mean every horse will obey my commands automatically. There is nuance. But I can typically come to a mutual understanding with a horse around their hoofcare with some explanation on my part, just like I would with a human.

Number 4:
A horse’s past behavior doesn’t define the present. Meaning that just because they’ve had a hard time in the past, they don’t have to struggle in the present.

When we hold onto the stories we tell of a horse’s past, there is little room for them to change. I work with the horse I have in front of me, not the horse from yesterday or a week or a year ago.

This belief opens the door for new opportunities and experiences for the horse and for humans too!

Number 5:
I take responsibility for my own emotions and thoughts and do not expect my clients or the horses to take care of them.

If I am frustrated or having a downright bad day, I don’t expect others to change in order to calm me. And I don’t let their behaviors frustrate me.

This responsibility allows me to step back and center myself, instead of taking it out on the horse when things aren’t going to plan. I am not perfect by any means, but this belief enables me to not worry about working with a difficult horse because I am ultimately the creator of my experience.

These beliefs are my most important tools as a hoofcare provider.
And coincidentally, they also allow me to run my business in a way that feels coherent and safe for everyone involved, especially the horses. They help me to create the life I want to create regardless of the outside world.

Hoofcare doesn’t have to be a fight because my mindset is centered around cooperation and mutual understanding. Horses are extremely smart and expressive, and it is incredible to form a working relationship and understanding with them. And they are the reason why this “little girl” can trim any horse... and you can too!

I am now offering coaching to help you discover your own powerful beliefs and develop your powerful mindset around horses. Contact me to find out how I can help you!

For the past month I have felt like I’ve been in a cocoon.

After a wild ride the past couple of years, I finally feel settled and safe enough to fully rest, let go of things that haven’t been working for me without overthinking and over analyzing them to death.

I decided it was time to stop pushing and fighting against myself and start flowing instead. 2023 was an explosion of things happening almost all at once, all on top of each other. And while I’m grateful for the lessons, I needed to give myself an incubation period before we head into 2024 to integrate the pieces, to hole up and emerge brand new on the other side of the year.

On account of 2023, I am giving myself and anyone else who reads this permission to rest. Take some time to just be in the moment 💙

I had a beautiful moment with my horses on Christmas Day, especially Dot. I’m going to be making my next podcast’s topic on what I have learned from this beautiful mare but I am choosing to postpone this week due to the loss of a family member. I am so grateful for the time I had with her, and for my family and friends and the beautiful life I have lived thus far making memories with them. Life is fragile and precious. Don’t withhold your love from the ones you care about the most, including yourself ❤️

Being Blind to Imbalance

I was just having a conversation the other day with a friend about how blind I am to my own horses’ hoof imbalances. I commented on how I hadn’t realized how bad Dot’s lateral lares had gotten again, and she was like “Oh yeah, I noticed that awhile ago.” This was a bit humbling, because Dot’s had lateral flares on all four feet before that I thought had gone away!

This was because of some really good bodywork by the lovely, talented Julie Steorts and a frequent enough trim cycle to help improve imbalances over time, her feet were very balanced at the beginning of this year. So since we moved, the bodywork stopped, and I have been working on her feet less while focusing on building a new clientele, they have slowly crept back up over time without me even noticing… much to my chagrin as a hoofcare provider and bodyworker!

When I thought about it more, I realized this is EXACTLY how our brains operate when it comes to our mindset, our thoughts, and our beliefs. We automatically become blind to things we experience all the time, especially negative thoughts.

Often times, even if we do notice them, they feel too engrained, too big, and too outside of our ability to correct. Our brains automatically create habits in order to save us energy so we can focus on doing things to stay alive. Our lower brain views change as a threat to our survival.

So even if the things we think are not optimal, because we are still alive, the survival brain sees no real reason to improve and will actively double down on the thoughts and beliefs you have… because you might die if you change!

Just like my friend saw the imbalances in the hooves right away, a coach will see the imbalances in your mindset and can help you correct them. And like me with Dot’s hooves, if you start to see improvement, and stop doing the things that created it, the issues will start to creep up again like a w**d!

One of the biggest universal truths for creating sustainable and lasting change is taking slow, small, frequent steps made over a long period of time.

This is why having a coach as a sounding board is so magical! They can point these things out from an outside perspective so we can work on shifting areas we want to improve in, yet are blind to the true causes. Because we are all human with human brains, there isn’t a single person on this earth who doesn’t need someone else to point out their blind spots.

On the flight back from teaching my clinic, it dawned on me that I manifested the entire thing. 😳

From the beginning of my trim career, I had always wanted to teach other women how to manage their own horses hooves. Whether it was by making Instagram posts, writing a book, teaching clinics, taking apprentices, I desperately wanted to share my knowledge and make hoofcare accessible while also empowering other women to make their own decisions without the fear of harming their horses. I always had this dream in the back of my mind, and because of that I became the educator I wanted to be!

Along the way, while I made this dream a reality, I continually worked on myself and invested tens of thousands of dollars into my skill set and my mindset. And I realized a HUGE part of what I want to teach and do is not just trimming… I want to teach horsewomen how to gain an empowered mindset and self confidence to build the life they want to have with horses! My mindset work with my coach and from everything I learned is what made this all possible.

I have worked on everything under the sun with my coach… impostor syndrome, talking to authority figures with confidence, boundary setting with the people in my life, the services and prices I offer in my business, my financial mindset… all just the tip of the iceberg. Because what truly makes my business thrive is ME! And I want to shout it from the rooftops that as a human, you have a divine right to have EVERYTHING YOU HAVE EVER WANTED … and more! Just because you are worthy! You don’t have to do, say, or be anything to make you more or less worthy.

If you feel like you are less than or have an instant rejection of this concept, there is work to be done, my friend 💗

I have spots open for my 1x1 coaching to help you uncover where you aren’t living up to your true potential. Sound interested? Send me a DM and we can chat more about how I can help you 💕

Our energy is so powerful. It directly impacts how we show up in the world and how our horses feel about us.

But did you know you have the ultimate say in what energy you put out? This has always seemed unattainable to me. I had SO many reasons why my horse didn’t want to be around me. How could I change my feelings when they just happened to me?

The truth is we have the power to change!

Four years!!

I’m celebrating… it is National Day of the Horse and Dot’s gotcha day was December 11th 2019!

From learning equine anatomy, biomechanics, barefoot trimming, and craniosacral therapy, to energy, meditation, animal communication, shamanic journeying, manifesting, and life coaching… it’s all been because of the pivotal moment that I brought home this special, sensitive, nearly wild mare that I couldn’t understand at all.

There have been so many ups and downs with our relationship and our journey. Dottie has really been my greatest teacher and motivation to accomplish everything I have done in the past four years. She’s pushed me nearly to my breaking point multiple times, and people like , , , and were huge supports in my decision to keep pressing on.

The more I got to know her, the more I got to know myself. She is a divine mirror that has shown me all of my blind spots in my life and lead me to so many people and other horses who were also great teachers and friends along the way. She showed me where tension was in our bodies and our nervous systems in a way that created massive change in my life. I am so so grateful that she is my partner and teacher 💗

I am leaving to AZ for my hoof trimming clinic this weekend. 🎉 So I went to say goodbye to my girls yesterday and to my surprise, joy, and wonder, my mustang left the hay station when she saw me coming up the track and she approached me, halter in arms and everything! 🥹 This is MASSIVE.

Even before we moved, and all the running blindly, nearly damaging fencing and bulldozing other horses happened, she never actively sought me out unless she thought I had food and NEVER with the halter. And even then she would only come to a comfortable distance, just out of arm’s length.

I thought she’d ALWAYS be like that. That’s just who she was. She was skeptical, aloof, sensitive, and downright spooky.

The most amazing, major shift happened when I had the realization that she was allowed to change too, to shift out of the identity I knew her as for so long. I have shed my skin what seems like countless times in the past four years that I’ve had her… yet I was keeping her the same with the stories I was telling about her. 😳

When you change your mind, the things you look at change. Self awareness without judgement is the first step to powerful, magical, joyful change. 💭

Four gentle reminders for when you feel like giving up on horses…

1. Life is never 100% good, or 100% bad. The only guarantee is that there will always be good days and bad days. How you choose to approach them makes all the difference! A positive outlook never hurts.
2. Horses are some of the most forgiving creatures on the planet. When you make a mistake, you can apologize to them through changed behavior. They value honesty from humans and this creates trust, even after a mess up.
3. You are more than enough if you can only take care of or hang out with your horse. They do not care if you aren’t able to ride or work with them often. They value our companionship more than anything we do with them.
4. Everything you want is on the other side of your fear. What are you afraid of? Being brave enough to look into why you think you need to quit can help you create lasting change. Fear is a messenger. What is it saying to you?

Your brain is SO much more powerful than you think!

You don’t have to think or believe anything that makes you feel like you need to quit horses, if your heart’s deepest desire is to be around them.

Is this something you struggle with?

I am now offering Magnetize your Horsemanship, a 1x1 coaching program where we work on diving deep into your mind, bringing these fears to light and deciphering the messages they have for you, and using them to create the life you dream of with your horse!
Please send a PM if you are interested in how I can help you!

Eye drainage be gone!

Craniosacral can help clear excessive drainage in the eyes and the nose, or even help a horse drain when they get stuffed up and swollen!
The mucous membranes within the skull can become blocked when there are imbalances in the cranium and the body due to the pull on the fascial layers.
These photos are a week apart- during and after a craniosacral session 😍

Does your horse have excessive drainage? 🤪

Happy Thanksgiving! 🧡🦃

I am so grateful for my family, friends, clients, and client horses today and every day! I get to live the most amazing, mind blowing life 🧡

Thanksgiving aside, I try and keep a gratitude journal where I write down 3 things every morning and evening. This helps me operate from the energy of gratitude and love and be the grounded and high vibrational person I want to be! 🙏🏼 It has seriously made me so much more grateful for everything in my life!

If you’re not feeling the most grateful this holiday season, I challenge you to find and write down even ONE thing every single day that you are grateful for. The more you practice, the more and more things to be grateful for will present themselves! 👏🏻 what a beautiful life!

Anyone remember this old guy from a few months ago? I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw him again this week. We joked that he had aged backwards!

These changes came from freeing up the restrictions in his jaw and hyoid, allowing him to chew better. Along with a diet change and more comfortable hooves to help his posture and weight and he is on the road to recovery. His tongue perpetually used to hang out, and his owner happily reported that it hardly ever happens anymore 🎉

‘Turning back the clock’ is one of the most beautiful byproducts of a whole horse approach. 💕

11/01/2023

Someone commented on one of my videos that changing your mindset to have a better relationship with your horse can either lead to a beautiful relationship… or a toxic one 😮

Which is true… it all depends on your energy!
Are you living in a controlling, resistant energy? Are you avoiding feeling and experiencing negativity? Do you force yourself to smile or look at the bright side in ALL situations, even if it feels wrong? You may be in toxic positivity. This can certainly create a toxic relationship with your life AND with your horse.

Toxic positivity creates more of what we don’t want out of our experiences. Life is always going to be 50/50 positive and negative. It is this duality that makes our experiences on Earth such powerful lessons for us.

By accepting the duality of reality, we take our personal power back and recognize that our experiences don’t last forever… positive or negative. And that is a beautiful thing!

Horses are incredible teachers on how to accept our experiences by moving through them, and returning to neutral.

This lil rescue b***o was having struggles trusting a farrier to pick up his hind feet to trim. After a bit of convincing and building his trust with his fronts, he let me do both hinds 🥹

That’s not always the case, but going in with an open mind almost always leads me to the best case scenario. In these cases I like to consciously work with gratitude toward the animal. It goes a LONG way for b***os, all equines really, but especially for the donks. 💞 I appreciate so much when they understand and allow me to help them, and they appreciate being seen for their efforts especially if they’re uncertain or fearful in a situation.

And the best part about working with gratitude is that there is no coercion, no sedation, and little to no stress for them. 🙏🏼🦄 Pure magic!
