Clever polo ponies.
The wire fence was holding up here, invisible and dangerous under the water. Nick and a neighbour had earlier opened the gate with a rope tied around their waists for safety, but the horses were too nervous to go through the rushing water when they couldn't see the gap. Later, filmed here, the clever and brave lead mare led them through the narrow gate space (only metres from the very deep main river channel) and up to safety, even though she could not see the gate gap.

Danny and Ron would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. John Steele. With over 70 years in practice, "Doc" was a living legend, an influencial veterinarian in our horse world. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

7. Has made no racist remarks (although for the sake of full disclosure he did kick a palomino once)

Such an amazing person, and what a life of selflessness and kindness

So apparently there's a big horse race on tomorrow.

Aaron ‘Tommy’ Woodcock, horse strapper and trainer was Phar Lap's carer from 1929. The pair was inseparable; Tommy often slept beside the beast and legend has it that Phar Lap (or Bobby, as Woodcock called him) would not accept food from anyone else. When Phar Lap died at the age of six in 1932, Tommy was by his side.

We're so proud to welcome the legendary Rodney Jenkins, an inspiring rider and trainer, as the 12th inductee into the WIHS Hall of Fame. Rodney could blow away the field in a tough grand prix then hop on a hunter and deliver a flawless, graceful winning round. From his first major international success in the 1970 President's Cup at Washington, he went on to win 70 grand prix events, usually with the incomparable Idle Dice. Horrific Slaughter of Show Jumper Confirmed at Debbie Stephens’ Centennial Farm | Noelle Floyd

This is an epidemic in recent years, that has mostly been kept out of the news. The targets were mostly pasture horses that were easily abducted out of the field, or in some cases, killed and butchered in the same field. The tentacles of these mafia-type operations run very deep. Full- fledged slaughter houses through-out mostly lower Miami-Kendall, and surrounding areas, have been investigated, raided and closed. But as explained by Richard Couto and team, (see ARM, Animal Rescue Mission), there are so many more that are hidden in the swampland. It's out of control

Good morning Facebook. From the news we all know our Equine friends and family in California are struggling with a heartbreaking natural disaster. Many horse owners are forced to turn their horses loose with the hopes that they can survive the fires. Here in Florida, we can only watch hopelessly, praying for firefighters so get control. I, personally, have had to stop my self many times from jumping in my truck to drive across the country with my trailer to assist in safe evacuations for the horses. Despite the helpless feeling, there is a way we can help! As rescue workers come across stranded or loose horses they are saving and evacuating who they can. But there is a shortage for halters and leads ropes. This Saturday, we will be stopping by a donation site and dropping off our own used halters and lead ropes to assist. If there is anyone in Brevard County that would like to make a donation if a used halter or lead rope, please message me for drop off information. I currently have 13 halters and 6 ropes, but would like to bring much more to the donation site. There is a way we can help from a distance!
