I would like to make a little post on my husband's behalf and give a little update for everyone on order statuses. I know most of you probably won't read the entire thing, but hopefully a few of you do.
Some of you know, some of you dont but my husband and I started building these enclosures a little over 10 years ago out of our 2 car garage. We are NOT a large scale company that just orders products from China and resells. Every enclosure that leaves our warehouse is hand cut, pre-assembled to ensure all peices fit together perfectly and then taken back apart to be boxed up, everything. We only recently purchased a CNC to help cut out the vents on each enclosure and that is literally the only thing not completed by hand, trying to speed up building process and take less time hand drilling every single vent hole on each enclosure (those of you that have our older enclosures know exactly how many vents holes there are on those things). David is working 7 days a week, upwards of 10 hrs if not more each day in the warehouse. On top of trying to keep up with the flood of messages he receives all day long. We also have 4 children that no matter what he tries to be present for and be the best father in the entire world for them no matter how tired he is each and everyday, coming home exhausted and stressed beyond belief but he refuses to let our children see that. A wife/spouse can see through the tuff face our husbands put on, that are out there breaking their backs, slowly wearing their bodies down, the blood sweat and tears it takes to all the amazing men out there who know what true physical, dirty work does to them.
We specialize mostly in large custom orders, zoo exhibits, store build outs, wholesale orders that require ALOT of time to complete. Probably roughly only 30% of our sales are just standard orders. The other percentage is typically complete custom large exhibits, or orders of 20+ enclosures per order and only getting larger. He does his absolute best to try and give everyone no matter the size of the order the same respect. Every single order is a blessing we are thankful for so we can provide for our children, one who is type 1 diabetic diagnosed at the age of 5 and our amazing customers are the reason we've been able to ensure she has her insulin, CGMs, pods, and all the other supplies she needs for the last 9 years and provide all our children with the necessities they need in life.
We recently had to let an employee go in our warehouse so it is just him and one absolutely amazing employee building and cutting all day long no matter how tired they are. I can no longer physically help when I have free time due to recent medical issues that have popped up for me in the last few months. So ontop of working all day, talking to customers all night long, and taking care of our children he has also been having to take me to and from appointments constantly so I can prepare for my surgery I have to have in a few weeks. I will be on complete bed rest restrictions for atleast one month and then a hundred other restrictions I will have following the next few months, the stress on him trying to figure out how he is going to juggle the workload he has and find a way to help me through this time I see everyday on his face no matter how much he tries to hide it to try and keep me as calm as I can be.
I know everyone wants their orders right away no matter how much we have lead times posted or post updates that we are behind, no one sees the hard work and time away from our family that he has put in over the years and even more this year. There are companies that have lead times of almost a year yet he does the absolute best he can to try and make sure he can stay within the few months his lead time is. However business owners are human too, hand made products can take longer to complete than just placing an order from overseas and having to wait for them to be delivered. People forget that owners have lives beyond just their business. He doesn't take days off, he isn't home to sit and eat dinner with his children every night because he is trying to make sure products can be completed and out as fast as possible. We had to BEG him to take father's day off 100% not go in for the day like he said he needed to and just come home for dinner and spend the evening with us. He receives rude and repetitive messages constantly with people who want to message 10 times a day everyday wanting to know what's going on with their orders, instead of trying to comprehend the more he has to stop and answer the same person's messages every single day requires him to shut down his saws, put the drill down, taking time away from building to get these orders out to respond to everyone.
I guess bottom line of this post is to just remind people he is working as hard as he can, working as fast as he can to ensure you receive the amazing enclosure he put his heart and soul into. I know some people will not care and just continue to do as they choose however there are some people that I pray will take a step back, be kind and patient and remind themselves that again, business owners are human too, small business owners spend their entire days stressing about what they can do better and try to speed up on production to keep customers happy. But they also have stress out side of those four walls that have become more like a house and their true home becomes more of a second house to them sometimes. No one has ever not received their order placed through Cryptic, we are not out here just ignoring the orders that come in because we have something better or more exciting to do than work. So I am begging anyone who will listen, please just be reminded that your order will be received, and you will receive an amazing product that will last your scaley babies their entire lives if taken care of properly. But most of all I hope you remember that he is human, he has alot more going on than just work, he has a family who needs and misses him because there are times it feels to us that work has become his number 1 priority, trying to please all his customers even the ones who choose to be just nasty and rude. Thank you to those who have listened to my rant, again we apologize for the delays but I promise you will love your product once received. And I am beyond grateful for those who have been patient and supportive. We are still working on trying to get another machine in the warehouse and another employee to speed things up but until then, no matter how much the kids and I know he is and always will be to us for everything he does, the reality of it is, he is not superman.
