It is so difficult to not become outright bitter when this is the average interaction with this generation, MY generation. People generally don't care about you because they care about themselves so much that there's not much room for anyone else. I have gone so far as to drive to town and wait 30 minutes for someone who never showed up and decided to text me, " hey I can't make it" 30 minutes after we were supposed to meet.
I am growing tired of having a rabbit ready to go with freshly trimmed nails (I always trim the day they leave), a sack of hay to go with them, and a bag of transition feed, and them waiting in my transport cage in the house on someone to show up who simply decides the easiest route for them is to ghost on their commitment to show up or send a courteous text message that they will not come than it is to simply say, " hey I've decided to not get the rabbit. Thanks anyway."
This is the reason I make people drive to me or pay for delivery and I am not leaving the house until that payment is made. After you have set a time and date to meet and someone is expecting you, it is the most cowardly and discourteous thing to simply decide to close your eyes and pretend that went away.
I experience THIS type of interaction MORE than I experience courteous people. Half of the time I don't take people seriously and there's been times I didn't even get the rabbit ready because I could already tell this was some type of mouth breathing interaction where someone was going to ignore me telling them that my rabbits are high-quality and sell as such and then show up and tell me that they, " saw a rabbit at the auction who looked just like that and it sold for $10."
I'm begging you guys to do an ounce of research before coming over. If I ask you what breed of rabbit you already have and you can't even tell me, that's my first red flag for selling you a rabbit for the purpose of breeding.
If you say *anything* to me that indicates that you are indifferent to whether my animal lives a quality life or keels over in the elements, I will send you on your way. I have put up with some of the rudest, strangest, and most uneducated and ignorant people of my life through rabbits and it's almost enough for me to cut off any sales other than those made to fellow showmen because I've had it with the second-hand embarrassment I feel when someone raises hell on my property when I tell them the price of the rabbit they have their eyes set on when we have already discussed where my rabbits start.
I am not going to lower myself to mass selling junk rabbits like a puppy-mill to make people come. That's not me now and that never was and it never will be.
