Hank is a HIGH anxiety border collie. He works on a farm, but even working doesn’t tire him out. At his first groom, I was told that other salons wouldn’t take him due to fear aggression. I’ve witnessed great amounts of anxiety from this dog, but the only fear aggression I see is when I’m clipping his nails and he nibbles my arm where he can reach. He could easily tear the flesh from my bones, but he chooses not to. Some dogs don’t do well in a crowded salon environment. I think Hank is one of those dogs. He still hates being brushed and doesn’t enjoy the grooming process, but he IS so excited to see me that he’ll jump in the truck and cry when his owner asks if he wants to go see Katie. Dogs are the absolute best therapy, and I’ll never take for granted how my job is much more a hobby than work. I have fantastic clients, canine and human alike.
