We as rescuers often have to remind ourselves its ok to say no. It's ok to set boundaries with people. We beat ourselves up trying to save these kittens. We cry when we can't take them because we are always full. I want people to think about how they treat people in rescue.
Us rescuers didnt cause this overpopulation problem, we are the ones trying to fix it. We are the ones who lose sleep, have anxiety and depression and are called failures because we have to turn kittens down. We are the ones who get the people who think we owe them to take all these kittens because they don't want to even try... I'm not saying all people are like this, but we get some really harsh messages, people say things like "oh well, I guess they will die then. Or I just dont have the time. Honeslty we work 24/7 our work is always at home. We don't have the option of putting kittens in shelter. We have kittens between the ages of a day old to 8wks. They cannot be left alone and we can't just rent a building and leave them there. Kittens that young could have all kinds of problems or medical emergencies and its not safe. They also have to be fed every w hours. Please take it easy on us, we are doing what we can and go above and beyond for our kittens. This is a worldwide problem and we all need to be nice to eachother. EVERYONE IS FULL!
We are the ones who have to worry about food, meds, litter, supplies and make sure they are healthy. I have people still trying to get us to take kittens eventhough we have 25 fosters right now. Luckily 5 of them are in foster because we just dont have anymore openings. Please always be kind and think about this before giving us a hard time. Thank you π
