🐾✨ We had a pawsitively fetching time at our recent staff training at Sara's Waggy Tails thanks to The Canine Clubhaus! ✨🐾

Our team spent some time brushing up on their wag-spertise in canine communication — learning to read every wag, wiggle, woof, and woah! 🐶💬 From sit-sters to tail talks, we dove deep into doggy body language to better understand how our furry friends tell us what they’re feeling.

We also sniffed out:
🦴 How to give pup-grade care for our wise and wonderful senior dogs
🐾 The proper pawtocol for meet & greets
🐕 Tips for monitoring dog interactions to avoid ruff situations
🐶 What to do when things get a little barky between friends
🛏️ And new ways to make your pup’s stay more comfurtable than ever!

We had a howl of a time chatting outside, soaking up the sun (and slobber), and making sure we’re leash-ing the latest info to give your dogs the safest, happiest, tail-waggin’ care possible. 🐾💕

Fun doggy fact! Kisses from your furry best friend can have many meanings, so let’s dig in. These licks can be to get attention, because they want/need something, they’re stressed, to show empathy, and, yes, for affection🥹.

As puppies, they receive licks from their mother for grooming and bonding, so this is a learned behavior. “Kissing” their mom’s mouth to let her know they need something.

Contact clues will help you sniff out why. If you just had a pb&j, it could just be because peanut butter is delicious! Do you have a good pic of your dog giving kisses? We want to see ‘em!

Happy Independence Day! We hope everyone enjoys the fireworks and BBQs around Knoxville today. Give these safety tips a sniff to make sure your fur baby has a tail-wagging holiday too.

🐾 Fireworks can be loud and scary. Make sure Spot is in a safe place that is quiet and secure. You can also try calming treats or a thunder shirt to help their anxiety. More dogs are lost on this day than any other 😔

🐾 Paws before sharing food. Onions, garlic, and grapes are toxic to dogs. So hold the guac, but watermelon makes a yummy treat!

🐾 Make sure pets are out of harms way from glass, bonfires, and BBQs. Leashes and wagging tails can knock things over.

🥵 Some Hot Weather Advice 🥵

Ever notice your pup not drinking on a hot day? You know they should be thirsty, but just not having it when you present water. Did you know that dogs will refuse to drink because they know they’ll have to p*e it out?

One way to help overcome this is to rub cool water out an ice cube on the inside of their lips. This helps them to feel cool, and can help them to drink. It’s important to remember to help keep Fido cool and hydrated on these hot days!

If you’re ever worried about your pet’s water intake or feel they’ve overheated, please contact your vet immediately. Stay cool 😎
