Some dogs tolerate winter. Oscar celebrates it.
With fresh snow on the ground, Oscar was in his element—running, playing, and turning the yard into his personal playground. He’s a young, athletic dog with endless energy, and snowy days only seem to fuel his excitement. Watching him play, it’s impossible not to smile.
Oscar originally came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have much background on his past. What we do know is that he’s a fun, people-loving dog who thrives when he has an outlet for his energy. Tug is his favorite game, and he throws his whole heart into playtime. When he gets overly excited, he can show off his parkour-style moves, which is part of his big, bold personality.
Because Oscar lacks manners around other dogs, we feel he would do best as the only pet in the home. With structure, training, and someone who enjoys an active lifestyle, Oscar has the potential to be an incredible companion.
Oscar is still here, still waiting, and still ready to bring this much joy into someone’s life—snow day or not.
You can meet Oscar at the Montgomery County SPCA – Perkiomenville Shelter, located at 1059 Sweisford Rd, Perkiomenville, PA 18074.
Kennel License #2863.

Opal’s story is one we see far too often. A beautiful dog, likely used for breeding, and then left behind — found as a stray with signs that she had raised litters before, but with no one ever coming to look for her. As much as we always hope for a reunion, Opal’s family never arrived. What did arrive instead was her chance for something new.
When Opal came to us, she was underweight and understandably unsure of the world around her. She carries herself with a quiet softness — sweet, timid, and still learning that she is safe. Opal is very much in the process of coming out of her shell. She hasn’t yet shown us a favorite toy or game, but what she does enjoy are the simple things: gentle pets, kind voices, and being doted on with tasty treats.
Opal is looking for a calm, patient home — one that will allow her to move at her own pace and discover what it means to truly belong. She doesn’t need grand gestures, just consistency, kindness, and a family willing to show her that this chapter of her life can be different.
Opal is ready to trade survival for comfort, and uncertainty for love. She’s waiting for the family who will finally call her theirs.
Opal is available for adoption at
Montgomery County SPCA – Perkiomenville Shelter
1059 Sweisford Rd, Perkiomenville, PA 18074
Kennel License #2863
Sometimes the most beautiful transformations start quietly — and Opal is just beginning hers.
