Shirley may have the physique of a potato and the athletic grace of a very sleepy toddler, but don’t be fooled—this 2-year-old American Bully/Staffordshire mix is one lovable goofball. Her slightly askew looks only make her more endearing, and her true beauty shines in her personality.
Shirley lives for snuggles. If she had it her way, she’d spend every Sunday curled up on the couch beside you, “helping” you cheer on your favorite team. She’s got bursts of playful energy when the mood strikes, but she’s equally happy settling into couch-potato mode. She also has a funny habit of forgetting the concept of personal space—if you’re sitting down, expect her to be right there, leaning in as close as possible for affection.
Shirley is mid-large in size, full of love, and ready for a family who will enjoy short walks, a little yard play, and plenty of cuddle time. She might not win any dog shows, but she’s guaranteed to win your heart.

🎉 This past Saturday, TWENTY-TWO pets found their homes right here at the ARL during the nationwide Clear the Shelters event! We’re especially proud that some of these adoptions were long-term residents who finally got their second chance.

In total, 226 adoptions were completed throughout August as part of Clear the Shelters month! This is such a huge win for so many deserving animals. 🐾

💛 Thank you to everyone who adopted, shared, volunteered, and cheered us on. Here’s to the many already adopted, and the many more to come!

Sophia here! 🐾 While Mom, Heather's Handmades works hard on cozy beds for Sophia's Beds of Hope, I take my job as Head of Quality Control very seriously. Today, I tested each bed to make sure they’re extra soft and comfy for my fur friends in shelters. Every pet deserves a warm spot to rest while they wait for their forever home, and I’m here to guarantee these beds are the best! 💤💖

We’re missing the key ingredient for our PURR-itos! 🐱🌯

We’ve got plenty of kittens, but we’re short on bath towels! Towels are a daily essential here at the shelter from making cozy kitten “purritos” to safe handling, comfy bedding, and everyday cleaning.

If you’re looking for the PURRR-fect reason to retire those old towels, we’d love to give them a second life helping animals in need.

Donations can be dropped off anytime in our orange donation shed at 58 Kennel Rd. Thank you for your endless support!

We are beyond excited to announce that Sophia’s Beds of Hope is now officially approved as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization! 🎉 This means our mission to provide comfort and handmade beds to animals in need is now recognized at the federal level.

Hi, I’m Sven, and I am ready to be your new best friend!

I’m a foodie—hay, pellets, veggies, and fruits, you name it.

I’m a big fan of gentle pets, being held, and cuddling up on the couch, but you’ll need to catch me first! I love showing off my speed and award-winning binkies.

I have good litterbox habits and would make a fantastic free-roam bunny in a rabbit-safe home. I’m also an amazing explorer—so you’ll want to bunny-proof or block off any areas you’d prefer I don’t investigate. I’m curious, clever, and always on the move!

I have experience with children aged 5-14, cats, small dogs, other bunnies, and guinea pigs, so I’m open to siblings. But I’d also be perfectly happy as a solo bun, as long as I get plenty of love and room to roam.

I’m sweet, spunky, and looking for a family who sees just how special I am.

Peluche, a 2-year-old Goldendoodle, is a sweet and sensitive boy who’s looking for a fresh start. His previous family took him in only a few months ago, but with financial challenges and some mismatched needs in the household, they weren’t able to give him the stability he needed.

Duke isn’t just a handsome dog—he’s a canine scholar. At his command, he can sit, down, paw, high five, speak, whisper, and stay. (Yes, you read that right—he can whisper.)

But Duke’s not all about showing off his skills. He’s an easygoing, “go with the flow” kind of guy who’s happy to hang out, go for a walk, or settle in for a snuggle session. He enjoys the company of other dogs and is always up for making new friends.

Toys are Duke’s jam—especially stuffed ones. Fair warning though: he plays hard, and a stuffy in his paws might not keep its fluff for long.
