Adoption Review & Approval Policy
Pawsitively Purrfect Retreat is committed to placing cats into safe, loving, and permanent homes throughout Northern New York. Service Area
We currently adopt within Northern New York, including St. Lawre
nce, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, and neighboring counties. Adoptions outside this area may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Our Adoption Philosophy
Our responsibility is first and foremost to the health, safety, and long-term welfare of our cats. Applications are evaluated based on the best match between the cat and the prospective adopter. Adoptions are not approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Submission of completed application.

Applications may be approved based on:
• Stable housing arrangements
• Responsible pet ownership history
• Demonstrated veterinary care for current pets
• Appropriate vaccination status
• Appropriate spay/neuter status
• Safe introduction plans
• Financial preparedness
• Compatibility between resident animals and the adopted cat
Veterinary Care Expectations
Current pets should:
• Receive routine veterinary care
• Be current on veterinarian-recommended vaccinations
• Be spayed or neutered unless medically exempt or otherwise approved by the rescue
Failure to provide veterinary references or authorize release of veterinary information may result in denial. Reasons an Application May Be Denied
Applications may be denied if:
• Information is false or misleading
• Veterinary records cannot be verified
• Current pets have not received routine veterinary care
• Current pets remain unvaccinated without veterinary guidance
• Current pets remain unaltered without a reasonable explanation or documented exemption
• The applicant demonstrates an inability or unwillingness to provide basic veterinary care
• Landlord approval cannot be verified
• Resident pets present a safety concern
• The household environment is unsuitable for the specific cat
• The applicant intends for the cat to live primarily outdoors
• The rescue determines placement would not be in the best interest of the cat
Each application is reviewed individually, and extenuating circumstances may be considered. Return Policy
If an adopter is unable to care for an adopted cat at any point during its life, the adopter must contact Pawsitively Purrfect Retreat before surrendering, rehoming, or transferring ownership. Right to Refuse Adoption
Pawsitively Purrfect Retreat reserves the right to approve or deny any application based on what is determined to be in the best interest of the cat. Submission of an application does not guarantee adoption of any specific animal. These steps ensure our cats are healthy and ready for their forever homes. Our Commitment

We ensure all rescues receive the necessary vaccinations, feline leukemia testing, flea treatments, spay/neuter surgery, and nail trims before they find their forever homes. Our retreat offers a compassionate and enriching environment where cats can play, socialize, and learn to trust and be loved.
