Buster Brown retired in style from UKC shows this weekend with multiple group placements. Thank you to the American Eskimo Dog Assn of Oregon, judges and volunteers. I’m proud of everything Buster has achieved in the last 2 years and look forward to more sporting fun next Spring. 🤎

Reagan is in season 6 weeks early and I knew it was coming because the boys lost their minds 3 days ago. Goodbye, sanity.

I got to groom Bowie today! This is the best picture I could get before the dang phone died but we are working him into a German clip except with fluffy ears. He’s a gorgeous puppy and already about 56 lbs.

Me: having coffee, minding my own business.
Yeager: standing on the table, booping my head with his cold, wet snoot.
Buster: sitting on the bench next to me patiently waiting for kisses.
Reagan: sneakily parked under the table in case I have snacks.
Cruise: placing his fresh-off-the-water-bowl-chin on my lap for scritches.
Carly: licking the backs of my arms.

And they wonder why I dare to go places without them. 😆

I took Buster and Cruise for a morning hike at Camelback Park before it got too hot and happily let them pull me up the steep hill. The view was worth the climb. After that, we cooled off in the shade and met the only symphonic master harmonica player in Idaho. I had to stop and listen for a while because that’s a rare talent and he played so beautifully. Then we met up with a friend for lunch and a visit to the ice cream shop where the boys were each treated to their own pup cups.

Boise was fun while it lasted but my daughter went into labor today (a full 2 weeks early) so we returned to Portland this afternoon and will not be showing this weekend. I look forward to seeing everyone’s updates.

The boys and I set out early this morning to be tourists without the weekend crowd and it was a fun-filled day.
Our first stop was Shoshone Falls and unfortunately there’s a water crisis throughout many western states. The river is several feet below average for this time of year but it’s not hard to imagine the falls on full blast. The Snake River canyon is beautiful and I sincerely hope the area recovers soon.
Next we visited Pocatello and it’s definitely a town I would love to explore more. The historic downtown area is cute and walkable. We found a grassy park to lounge and enjoy local vibes.
On the way to Idaho Falls we passed a billboard for the Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot so that was obviously a must-visit destination. I had never seen this photo of Marilyn Monroe wearing a potato sack dress. Epic! 😁
In Idaho Falls, we enjoyed a river walk, toured the Japanese Friendship Garden, then caught up with our friends Lonnie and Dandy for happy hour. We will stay here tonight and then groom tomorrow before heading to Boise. Buster and Cruise are both wiped out and sleeping off full tummies. I could use a snooze myself.

That’s a wrap on Filer, ID. We’ve been chasing Buster’s last point for quite a while and he picked it up under Judge Linda Riedel today, going Best of Winners for a 3-pt major. It’s the second time I’ve cried outside the show ring, only this time it was from relief.

We enjoyed a small picnic overlooking the Snake River in quiet celebration, where a little orange cat crashed the party in search of a snack. Buster was beside himself, growling at our visitor as if to say he was not about to share his tasty chicken katsu. Sorry, kitty.

Cruise and Buster will be showing next weekend in Boise but first, it’s adventure time. Thank you, Teal, for the ribbon picture of our newest AKC champion. Congratulations to all the winners this weekend!
