Oregon Humane Society is the largest animal welfare organization in the Northwest, with campuses in Salem and Portland, including a Community Veterinary Hospital. OHS offers a wide variety of services from pet adoption, training, humane law enforcement, veterinary care, humane education, and disaster response. OHS puts no time limits on how long animals remain at the shelter—a pet stays available

for adoption as long as needed to find a loving home. If a pet in our care needs medical attention, the medical team provides that pet with the same level of care you would want your own pet to receive.

This sensitive and shy puppy named Kermit needed a home with a calm environment where he could take things at his own pace.

Thankfully, Kermit found that and a doggo sibling who would show him the ropes. ❤️ His adopter recently sent us this update:

"He adores his dog brother (Kobe) and cat brother (KJ) and brings the playful side out of both of them! Training is going great and he is loving his puppy class. We are so proud of how far he has come so far!"

From Oregon Humane Society to a loving home, we love to see Maddie girl smiling. 🙂

When Maddie arrived she was worried about new surroundings and people. It took her time to settle, but once she did she became a favorite.

Now, Maddie is living with a wonderful adopter who adores her. ❤️ "Thank you for bringing Maddie into my life. She's doing really well and
assists me at work daily and is loved by all. We enjoy exploring the outdoors and games of fetch. Maddie is happy, healthy, and thriving", says Maddie's adopter.

Squeem hit the jackpot when he found his new loving home. 👏

He has a doggo brother named Jonny, cozy places to snooze, goes on adventures, and got 1 million views on TikTok, so he’s famous. 💁‍♀️

Say hello to Radio! He's a 7 month old lab who has been working hard with our training team at the Behavior and Rescue Center, this includes working on impulse control and redirecting that puppy energy. 👏

He would do well with someone who can continue his training and provide him with outlets to get his wiggles out.

Newcomer Rider really wanted to make a great first impression with everyone, so he put his best asset forward. 🍑🙊

Did you know that the dog walking path also doubles as model runway? Well, of course now you do. 💁‍♀️

Rider just got here today and we can’t wait to see what other shenanigans he’ll be up to next. ❤️

Wilma was transferred from Josephine County Animal Shelter to Oregon Humane Society. It is common for black cats to be overlooked in an animal shelter, and on top of that, Wilma being 12 years old with a chronic condition meant she would likely take longer to find a home.

She became a staff favorite and went on stroller rides throughout the campus to provide her with enrichment. Wilma waited nearly three months to find a loving home, but the wait was worthwhile. ❤️

Now, she lives with her adopter and her dog brother, Elwood, also known as Wilma’s biggest fan. The stroller rides continue, now the route being a cruise around her new neighborhood. 🥰

“Wilma is doing great in her new home and she never stops purring! Her dog brother Elwood loves to groom her and he follows her everywhere. I’m excited to spoil her in her golden years,” says Wilma’s adopter.

When Stone first arrived, he hid in his kennel, hissed, and swatted at staff. Shortly after, he joined the Behavior Modification Program.

Overtime, Stone became brave enough to sniff the training team and eventually leaned in for cheek and chin scratches. He would need a calm environment where he could gain confidence from the presence of a resident cat.

Now, Stone lives with his adopter and Asta, another OHS alum. ❤️

”Stone and Asta have become very good friends. They even hang out together in the same chair, particularly when the air conditioning is on. Stone has begun sprawling on his back, exposing his tummy, which I am taking as a sign that he has really accepted that this is his home and that he can practice vulnerability here,” says Stone’s adopter.

Boris, an affectionate stray cat, arrived at our Salem Campus in desperate need of medical care. His eyes were swollen, with a leaky yellow discharge.

He received corrective surgery for his eyes, dental care, and behavior modification to help him adjust to life as an indoor cat. No longer fending for himself outdoors, this former stray found his loving home.

Thanks to your support, new statewide guidance from House Bill 3604 on caring for stray cats, like Boris, will take effect next month.

What does this mean for Oregon Humane Society? Stray cats will now qualify for adoption after completing a 3-5 day hold—a vast improvement from former guidelines that varied by county.

Coco is 11 years young and looking for a home! 🐶

This pittie and Siberian husky mix is full of s***k and sweetness, not showing her age at all. Coco loves to play with toys as much as she loves to snuggle. She is a staff favorite in Salem and it's obvious why!

She can be a little shy at first, but it doesn’t take long for her to warm up and for you to start falling in love. ❤️
