Out of the blue, I got approached by a young lady's mother asking for help with a 4h project her daughter wanted to do. This 13 year old young lady did her research and had her heart set on Tamuk rabbits for her project! I was very impressed by the knowledge this young lady had, and the research she put into what breed of rabbit to show.
So, I did a breeding lease for this young lady and delivered the doe, cage and most of what she needs to do this project. She learned what breeding looks like and now will take care of the pregnant doe all the way through kindling, raising the kits and weaning then onto fair. 3 of the kits will be shown with the doe at the fair in the meat rabbit division and then those 3 kits will be sold at auction.
I look forward to her updates. She looks a little tired in this pic but only because she wanted to make sure Jane Doe didn't get out of her arms.
Jane Doe, a black magpie composite Tamuk 14 lbs was bred today by Buck Rogers who is 16 lbs fawn Harliquin Tamuk. This unrelated lineage is from Rose Oak Ranch who got their Tamuk directly from the university that developed this heat hardy meat rabbit breed.

I have been looking at hay racks and testing a number of them. The biggest things for me was waste prevention and hardiness. I found the solution!! Very, very little waste. Solid construction, easy to hang, easy to load hay into (meaning you can pull the rack out to load it or not as you choose), wide bars for bigger bunny noses and good price for solid construction

If you have bunnies that are not Tamuk:
Here is a way to help keep your bunnies cool in the heat. No freezer space needed!
This method helped me before I turned to Tamuk rabbits. After using this, I never lost a rabbit to heat again. I hope this helps you like it did me! Stay cool my friends!

Get a metal casserole dish, line it with bricks then add rocks around it. Fill with cool water just below the top of the rocks/bricks. This will pull heat from your bunnies that lay on it better than anything and they won't get wet.
No need to freeze water bottles that bunnies chew on. The only things you need to do is keep the dish full and clean out at least once a day.

If you are worried about weight, you can get shelving racks to ziptie under the dish to spread the weight out.
