Last night some of our team attended a dinner CE (Continuing Education) on Osteoarthritis. Due to a power outage, the dinner meeting got moved from Black Pelican to Mama Kwans. They did a fantastic job of accommodating a large group on super short notice!

⚽️💙 **BELIEVE!** 💙⚽️

While **FFVH Team Week 2026** may officially be in the books, we’re not quite done celebrating our amazing team! 🙌

This year, we brought a little *Ted Lasso* spirit to First Flight Veterinary Hospital, because if there’s one thing we believe in, it’s that great teams are built on kindness, teamwork, encouragement, and believing in one another. ❤️

One of the highlights of the week was recognizing some very special team members with awards **nominated and voted on by their peers**. These awards celebrate the people who make FFVH more than just a workplace—they make it a TEAM. 🏆

🌟 **THE BELIEVE AWARD — Dr. Rook**
For always seeing the potential in others, encouraging them to keep going, and reminding everyone of what they’re capable of. Believe in Believe! 💙

🤝 **THE NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND AWARD — Ella**
For noticing when someone needs a helping hand and making sure no one has to face a tough day alone. That’s what being a teammate is all about! ❤️

🍪 **THE BISCUITS WITH THE BOSS AWARD — Eden**
For building relationships, making people feel valued, and understanding that sometimes the little things mean the MOST. (And who doesn’t love a little Ted Lasso-style biscuit magic?!) 🍪💛

⚽️ **THE TOTAL TEAM PLAYER AWARD — Nikki**
For putting the team’s success ahead of personal recognition and making everyone around her better. No superstar egos here—just showing up for the TEAM! 🙌

☀️ **THE HUMAN SUNSHINE AWARD — Meg**
For bringing warmth, optimism, and a little extra sunshine to even the hardest days. Every team needs someone who reminds them that brighter days are ahead! ☀️💛

🎉 **Congratulations to these incredible humans!** 🎉 We are so lucky to have you on Team FFVH, and we’re grateful for the countless ways you make our hospital a better place for our patients, clients, and each other.

And because great teams don’t happen by accident, a HUGE shout-out to **Nikki** for all her hard work planning Team Week and making it so special, and to **Meg** for putting together everyone’s bios and helping us celebrate the amazing people behind the scrubs! 👏❤️

At FFVH, we know veterinary medicine takes grit, compassion, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart. We may not coach AFC Richmond, but we think Coach Lasso would feel right at home with this crew! 😉

**Be curious, not judgmental. Believe in each other. And remember… we’re ALL part of the same team!** ⚽️

💙❤️

🐾 Veterinary Team Week 2026 🐾

✨ Team Member Spotlight → Kaitlyn, Mia, Brandon, and Nathan (aka Steve)✨

These four bright stars are the future of veterinary medicine! 🌟

These four outstanding “kiddos” bring endless energy, curiosity, and heart to everything they do. They keep our veterinarians on their toes with great questions, soak up every bit of knowledge they can, and are reminded daily that veterinary medicine is so much more than “just puppies and kittens.” (We always try to soak up puppy and kitten time to the fullest!) They’ve already learned that this career is one of the most challenging — and most rewarding — in the world.

FFVH is beyond lucky to have these rising stars on our team, even if we have to share them as they chase their dreams and continue their education. The future of veterinary care is in great hands with this crew! 🐶🐱💙

💚✈️ Veterinary Team Week Spotlight: David, Our Practice Manager! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating the guy who helps keep First Flight Veterinary Hospital flying smoothly behind the scenes—David! 🎉

David grew up in Kill Devil Hills, graduated from Manteo High School (where he met Dr. Jess!), earned his chemistry degree from Averett University, and went on to receive his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UNC Chapel Hill. He’s been a familiar face in the local pharmacy community since 2007. When he is not pharmacying, he is working to keep FFVH running smoothly!

David was instrumental in bringing First Flight Veterinary Hospital to life and continues to be a huge part of what makes our practice tick. From tackling the behind-the-scenes details to helping keep the wheels turning, he’s an essential part of our team—even if he doesn’t spend his days in an exam room. 😉

When he’s not keeping FFVH on track, David enjoys football, traveling, caring for their critters, and occasionally finding time to read. And, of course, keeping it classy! 😎

Thank you, David, for all the hard work, dedication, and support you bring to FFVH. We know there’s a whole lot that happens behind the scenes to make this place special, and we’re grateful to have you helping pilot the plane! ❤️✈️

💚✈️ **Veterinary Team Week Spotlight: Dr. Jess!** 🐾❤️

Today we’re shining the spotlight on the heart behind First Flight Veterinary Hospital—Dr. Jess! 🩺🐴🐶

Dr. Jess is passionate about providing exceptional veterinary care while building meaningful relationships with the pets and people who make our community so special. Her dedication to animal health goes well beyond the traditional exam room. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture and animal chiropractic, with a special interest in integrative medicine and multimodal pain management.

But perhaps her greatest passion is creating a hospital where compassionate medicine, teamwork, and fun all come together. From building FFVH into the practice it is today to supporting community programs like our Angel Fund and Community Care Clinic, Dr. Jess believes veterinary medicine is about so much more than treating patients—it’s about caring for people, too. ❤️

Of course, she couldn’t do any of it without her incredible team, who keep her inspired, challenged, and laughing everyday😂

We’re celebrating Dr. Jess today and the heart, grit, and passion she brings to First Flight Veterinary Hospital every single day! ✈️💚

We’re so proud to have Ella on our team as she continues to grow in her veterinary career! Thank you, Ella, for the compassion, dedication, and heart you bring to our patients and their families every day. ❤️

✨ Veterinary Team Week Spotlight: COLLEEN! ✨

Today we’re shining the spotlight on our fantastic CSR, Colleen! ❤️🐾

Our CSRs are the heart of the hospital, and Colleen is one of the wonderful humans helping keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes and at the front desk. From welcoming clients and caring for their concerns to helping coordinate the many moving pieces of a busy veterinary day, she plays an important role in making sure our patients and their people feel cared for.

Veterinary medicine is a team sport, and we are so grateful to have Colleen on ours! Thank you, Colleen, for everything you do for our team, our clients, and all the furry faces who come through our doors. You make a difference every single day! 🧡💚

Help us show Colleen some love in the comments! 👇🐶🐱
