This is a great example of a well socialized dog that doesn’t want to play. Sky (shepherd mix) was trying so hard to get Eddie to play. Sky is still under 2 and Eddie is 5. 1st warning: tail wagging but stiff body 2nd warning: avoiding eye contact 3rd warning: growl 4th warning teeth flash 5th warning snap forward (no contact necessary). Eddie is very good at de-escalating and teaching pups the universal signs for disengagement.

Welcome to MG Dog Training! Im Michelle Gillis and Ive been training dogs since 2006. When I first started training, I taught using mostly force. Dogs listened so it worked but it didn't feel right. I started learning more about positive reinforcement and attending workshops with some amazing trainers. For the last 10 years I have taken a more balanced approach to training, teaching through positive reinforcement and using corrections when appropriate.
