As our large breed dogs age, many of them suffer from painful arthritis and mobility problems. One way to help them have an easier and safer time around the house is by providing traction on slippery surfaces like hard wood and tile. Stairs can be particularly dangerous. Here is an example of one of my most favorite pet parents that went all out to provide a safe home for her two older Labradors. 🐾💕🌟

Today I was saddened to have to euthanize a sweet 16 year old best dog ever named Spike due to an unprovoked attack by a mama moose. His housemate was injured but survived. This incident occurred a few miles north of Lions camp on N. Hwy 67. As a friendly veterinarian reminder to pet owners, we have moose in Teller county and they pose a significant threat, especially mama moose with their young. If you encounter a moose, please maintain a safe distance. 💔️😞
