Tomorrow marks a year Piper has been missing. To say it has been a rough year for her owners is putting it lightly.
A year ago on February 4th, 2021, Pipers owners were both out. They left that morning like they did every other day - Kissing Piper goodbye and telling her they would see her later. Little did they know it would be the last time. They asked a friend to let her out to go potty, again, normal. When he turned the key and opened the door, Piper ran out after a cat. The weather was just like it is here in Pittsburgh today. Cold, snowing and icy. As he tried to get Piper he slipped on the ice, injuring his neck.
As Piper ran from her street, down 6th street and halfway up McNeilly, many people saw her. People in their cars, Amazon drivers. Someone even said they for sure saw Piper get picked up by a red / maroon SUV. Information was pouring in, it was all good news. Any information or sightings we were ON it. We appreciate ANY information, even if you think it’s not worth it, to us it definitely is.
There have been so many twists and turns, prank calls, people making horrific Facebook profiles. Everytime we got any sort of sighting or information, rushing there with our hearts beating so fast praying to God it would lead us to Piper. All of these emotions were like being on a rollercoaster.
Some may easily give up after losing a pet. However, we look at our pets like our children. They mean the world to us. Piper was her families shining little light, their world, their everything. It’s been an entire 365 days without answers, without Pipers little kisses, going on adventures with her, the excitement of watching her play with new toys, laughing at the silly little things she does. Losing hope wasn’t an option, and it still isn’t. We all will forever hold on to the hope we have that she will be found, returned, into the loving arms of her mommy and daddy.
