Woman Owned Wednesday!
WOW! Have you met our owner?
Kim has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration. For years she worked in the mental health field as an office manager for a chain of psychiatric hospitals! After this she moved into a role working as a Behavioral Therapist for children.
During this time Kim was starting her own family and keeping up with her farm. She had her eye on the feed store for a while but the timing just never lined up. Growing up around animals, Kim had been researching feed for them since she was 13 and had many thoughts of having her own small town store. After a year of trying to get everything to fall in place, she found out from the (previous) owner that she store was still on the market. Her husband, Elisha, told her, “You do all of this already, might as well get paid for it.” And with that, everything had finally fallen into place and Kim bought what we now know as Cherry Creek Farm and Feed. She has been so thankful to be the owner of this store for the past 4.5 years!!
Kim’s goal for the store has always been to help people feed their animals the best food options at an affordable price. Kim loves to help her customers be educated in what they are feeding their animals. And, she loves to hear about how the knowledge and suggestions have worked for them!
Owning a small business has given Kim more time with her family than corporate America ever did. Which is a great thing because outside of the store, her family has a working farm. With the help of her family, they’re milking her 60+ dairy goats. Raising their meat. And let’s not forget highland cattle, chickens, kune kune pigs, ducks, geese, dogs, cats (kittens), a bunny and a tortoise! She’s a sucker for a rescue horse, she takes them in, rehabs them and sends them off to their new homes! Oh and did we mention, she also raises AKC registered Great Danes? Her kids are busy too! Both involved in 4H as well as sports and other activities.
If you see her in the shop, ask her all of the hard questions! But if she’s not here, just know she’s probably busy conquering the farm-life with her family!
