In this video, you’ll meet one of the dogs Dr. Jeffrey Young is currently rehabilitating, an injured pup who may have been hit by a car or is suffering from a spinal disk issue. He’s scared. He’s hurting. But he’s not giving up. And neither are we.

These are the kinds of animals the Intermountain Humane Shelter is being built to help. The forgotten ones. The broken ones. The ones who’ve run out of options.

But we can’t do it alone.

We need to raise $300,000 to build this shelter and bring these animals the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve. Every dollar matters. Every share helps. And every heart behind this mission keeps it beating. This is your moment to be part of something life saving.

Please donate if you can. Share if you care. Help us build the shelter they’ve been waiting for. The link is in the comments.

Some of you may remember Harper and her story…here she is, living her best life and enjoying the company of many other dogs in her doggie day care. Something we weren’t sure would ever happen for her. What love, training and a dedicated and patient guardian can do. Way to go Harper!

Help Us Build a New Beginning for Homeless Animals!

The New Intermountain Humane Shelter at Planned Pethood International:

Please donate here: https://gofund.me/3fa3fc8e

Dr. Jeff Young has spent over 30 years fighting for animals that the world too often forgets. Through his work at Planned Pethood International, he's treated tens of thousands of animals, often at little or no cost to their families. His philosophy is simple: every life matters, and every animal deserves a chance.
Now, we're asking you to be part of something bigger.
Planned Pethood International has become one with the Intermountain Humane. Dr Jeff is now building a new IMH shelter at the site of Planned Pethood International. This will be more than just a shelter-it will be a safe haven for neglected, abandoned, and abused animals who deserve better. But to make it a reality, we need your help.

We're raising $300,000 to construct a modern, fully equipped shelter facility that will provide:
* Safe, climate-controlled housing for dogs and cats
* On-site veterinary care through Dr. Jeff's existing clinic
* Dedicated adoption areas to help animals find their forever homes
* Spaces for behavioral support and rehabilitation, because some wounds aren't visible
This new facility will allow us to rescue, treat, and rehome hundreds more animals every year-many of whom wouldn't survive without intervention. These aren't just pets-they're survivors of neglect, trauma, and abandonment. And they deserve a chance.

Why Now?

The current Intermountain Humane facility is too small, too outdated, and too overwhelmed to meet the growing demand. Animals are waiting in line for space that doesn't exist. Some never get the chance they deserve simply because there's nowhere to put them. By relocating and rebuilding at Planned Pethood International, we can combine resources, reduce costs, and deliver better outcomes for the animals-and the people who love them.

This is about saving lives efficiently and compassionately. Dr. Jeff is known for doing things differently-cutting out the fluff, staying focused on what really matters, and never backing down from a challenge. This shelter is the next step in that mission.

Why Your Donation Matters

We're not building this to look fancy. We're building it to function-with smart design, real-world needs in mind, and the same no-nonsense philosophy that Dr. Jeff brings to his veterinary work. Every dollar you donate goes directly to construction costs, supplies, and the critical infrastructure needed to house, heal, and rehome animals in need.
* $25 helps buy food, blankets, and toys for a rescued pet
* $100 contributes toward building materials and equipment
* $500 funds a full medical workup and treatment for a new intake
* $1,000+ helps build entire kennels and cat enclosures

No donation is too small-and every single one helps get us closer to our $300,000 goal.

Be Part of Something That Lasts

Animal lovers, fans of Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet, and supporters of humane care: you've always shown up when it mattered. Now's the time to show up again. This shelter will save lives for years to come. It will stand as a symbol of what compassion, grit, and community support can accomplish.

Donate today. Help us build the future these animals deserve.

Together, we can give them not just shelter-but a second chance.

We are so excited to announce that Harper has found her forever home and family! After almost a year at our shelter and many months in another one before ours, her happy tail has come to fruition. She had a productive 6 week board and train with where he built a solid foundation of basic obedience and manners that will set her up for success in her new home. Her family is committed to continuing Max’s good work to keep her on the right path while also giving her lots of love and cuddles of course. Her transformation from a reactive shelter dog to a beloved family member is something we knew could happen, but with time not on our side, her chances for a happy life were dwindling. This could never have happened without the outpouring of support from volunteers and animal lovers who donated and advocated for Harper.
She wouldn’t be here without you. ❤️🐾 (And if you need a dog trainer, you can’t go wrong with Max and goaheaddogtraining.com!)

Harper still needs a forever home…

When Intermountain Humane Society closed the doors on its Pine facility last month, all the pets it sheltered had found homes but one. Harper, a six-year-old female hound mix, is still looking for her forever owner. In addition to being sweet, smart and undeniably cute, Harper has her own fan club.....

Finding Your New BFF

Our vision is to be the leading resource for dogs, cats and pet stewards in Park County and the surrounding mountain communities. At Intermountain Humane Society, we save, shelter, train, educate, rehabilitate, and find dogs and cats their forever homes.

We are an independent 501 (c) (3) charitable organization that receives NO government funding. We serve a wide community, IMHS is the only shelter in Park County and the only shelter anywhere from Golden to Buena Vista Colorado. We are a delightful mix between rural mountains and Denver-metro. We consistently save and adopt out over 500 dogs and cats a year even though we are smaller than most home’s garage.

IMHS consistently has between 97-99% placement rate for our animals. We have a small staff and we make ends meet by being diligent with our finances and our wonderful volunteers giving time and donations to us, especially through our Thrift Store which is above the shelter. We could not save so many animals without the Thrift Store so please donate to it and SHOP!
