🐻 🐻 NOISEMAKER - for Bears 🐻 🐻
- Empty Gallon size water container (WITH a handle is easier).
- Add 10 rocks into it, recap it.
- Use it by striking it against a doorframe, table, kitchen chair, counter, or an outside deck railing, tree, etc. Practice making noise with it.
- Use it anytime a Bear approaches a Slider, climbs onto deck, or climbs a tree to reach a roof or balcony.
- Never let a bear think that it’s OK to approach your Sliders or windows.
- Make a few noisemakers - one for outside, one to use inside.
If you don’t have gallon size water bottles you can ask at the transfer center.

From the street a Bear or Deer may come to your door to check a wreath out! Younger, curious bears have bitten them or knocked them off the door! We’ve had many residents over the years with beautiful wreaths hanging only to lead to Bear visits to their doorway! 🚪 🦌 Deer and other critters have dined on fake silky flowers on wreaths, too. Not healthy for wildlife and not a good idea to attract wildlife to your doorway!

🌺 No SCENTED items / food / pet food / gum/mints / scented baby items / trash etc. in your vehicles, sheds, crawlspaces or garages. 🫐 🐈‍⬛ 🐩 🗑️
🐻 If a bear is near your vehicle checking it out, set off the red panic button on your key fob.

🐻 A black bear can squeeze their body through small holes!
The absence of a clavicle gives bears a highly flexible shoulder. Instead of being attached by a collarbone, their shoulder blades are held in place by muscle. This lack of a collarbone is a major reason why bears are incredibly agile climbers and can squeeze their massive bodies through impossibly small openings (such garage windows & doggie doors). 🐻 Bears also have between two and 2 1/2 inches of fur on each side of their body. Most people mistakenly think all bears are larger than they are. In Pine Mountain Club, we have a few bears that enter garages to get to scented items / refrigerators / freezers / food / pet food / trash, etc.
Always take your trash to the trash transfer center never leave it in your garage getting hot and smelly!  Never leave anything scented, and certainly no food in your garage, shed or crawlspace.

Got BEAR S**T? See BEAR S**T?

Take a Photo & Share where it was located!
WHY? One way to see if bears are eating healthy is to examine what is in their s**t! Take a photo, then take a stick to look at the content of the s**t! This bear had apricots and possibly some plums. Unfortunately, sometimes we see bear s**t with plastic, birdseed, and other human related foods.
S**T CLEANUP - ideally you do not want bear scent on your lot. Use a shovel to bury it, then rake over the top and then put bleach on the area.
Also, in the mountain communities - using a shovel put the s**t into a bag and take it to your local transfer center. Rake the area where the Bear s**t was & spray bleach on it.🐻
