Contact us (Monday thru Friday 9-5) via call/text at 334-746-4340 or email at [email protected] 🐢 Pike Road Mobile Veterinary Services (PRMVS) provides exemplary house call veterinary care for small animals, enhancing the quality of life for owners and their pets in the Pike Road community and neighboring Montgomery areas. Dr. Marlaina Nelson has practiced in Montgomery since 2019. After

years of dedicated community service through brick-and-mortar veterinary clinics, she chased her dreams and launched this business to provide expert veterinary care for families in the comfort of their home and enhance her own ability to be involved in the community with her family. Mobile veterinary care complements traditional veterinary clinics by filling the need for personalized medical management for pets in your home while collaborating with local veterinary clinics to ensure your pet has the best life possible for as long as possible. PRMVS conducts wellness and sick patient examinations, puppy/kitten exams, vaccine administrations, preventative care needs, health certificates, microchip implantation, laboratory services, end-of-life and palliative care, quality-of-life assessments, in-home euthanasia, telehealth consultations, and more. We've partnered with local support veterinary clinics to conduct surgical procedures or other diagnostic testing that your pet may need. Dr. Nelson is available for appointments 3 days a week, typically Mon/Wed/Fri, during the initial phase of the business. As the business grows, she will see patients Monday through Friday. Call/text our business number at 334-746-4340 to request an appointment or through our website.

🐢🩺 Canine Influenza: Why Vaccination Matters 🩺🐢

Canine influenza (dog flu) is a highly contagious respiratory disease that can spread quickly anywhere dogs gather, including boarding facilities, grooming salons, dog parks, daycare centers, training classes, and veterinary clinics.

πŸ’¨ Signs of canine influenza may include:
🐾 Persistent cough
🐾 Sneezing
🐾 Nasal discharge
🐾 Fever
🐾 Lethargy
🐾 Decreased appetite

While many dogs recover with supportive care, some can develop more serious complications such as pneumonia.

πŸ’‰ Why vaccinate?
βœ… Helps reduce the risk of infection
βœ… Lessens the severity of illness if infection occurs
βœ… Helps reduce the spread of the virus to other dogs
βœ… Provides added protection for social and frequently boarded pets

Just like people can catch the flu, dogs can too! Vaccination is one of the best ways to help keep your furry family members healthy and protected.

πŸ• If your dog regularly interacts with other dogs or visits boarding and grooming facilities, ask us if the canine influenza vaccine is right for them.

πŸ“ž Give us a call to discuss your pet’s vaccination needs and keep them protected year-round! ❀️🐾

πŸŽ†πŸΎ Holiday Anxiety in Pets πŸΎπŸŽ†

Fireworks, parties, visitors, and loud noises can make holidays very stressful for our pets. Some signs of anxiety may include:

😟 Pacing
😟 Panting
😟 Hiding
😟 Trembling
😟 Excessive barking or whining
😟 Trying to escape

The good news is β€” we can help! ❀️

There are several safe and effective anxiety medications and calming options available to help keep your pets comfortable during stressful holidays and events. The key is planning ahead, because many medications work best when started BEFORE the fireworks or festivities begin.

✨ Other helpful tips:
🐢 Create a quiet, safe space indoors
🎢 Use calming music or white noise
🦴 Offer favorite toys or treats
πŸšͺ Keep pets safely inside with updated ID tags

If your pet struggles with holiday anxiety, give us a call before the celebrations start so we can help find the best option for them! πŸ•πŸˆπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

β˜€οΈπŸΎ Summer Heat Safety for Pets πŸΎβ˜€οΈ

The summer heat is approaching, and our furry friends can overheat much faster than we do! Here are a few important tips to help keep your pets safe and comfortable this season:

πŸ’§ Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water
🌳 Make sure pets have access to shade when outside
πŸš— Never leave pets in a parked car β€” even for a minute
🐾 Avoid walking on hot pavement (if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws!)
πŸŒ… Walk pets early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler
❄️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse

Some pets β€” especially flat-faced breeds, seniors, overweight pets, and pets with thick coats β€” are at even higher risk in the heat.

If your pet seems overheated, move them to a cool area immediately and contact us right away. 🩺

Stay cool and enjoy a safe summer with your four-legged family members! β˜€οΈπŸΆπŸ±
