It is wjth a heavy and saddened heart that we post this, but sadly we are looking to rehome one of our precious puppies. Please if you know of anyone who would be willing to give her a good home life, share.
Ruby Skye is a shepherd/ pitbull mix. She will be 2 this November. We adopted her over 14 months ago. She is social and full of life. She's good with every type of animal she has come into contact with. She loves people, car rides, toys, treats, attention and of course our bed. She is crate and house trained. Sadly, she is afraid of thunderstorms, fireworks, gun fire, being alone, being confined, and most of all She loves to climb. For her safety, we have chosen to find her a home where she can be given the individualized attention she needs. Her ideal home would be with a person who travels and can take her with them. As she loves to be outdoors and explore. Even a home with a farm with lots of land. She will need an indestructible crate if left home alone, as she will injure herself if she hears a thunderstorm or gun fire.

As we are in the middle of Fall Break and the Holidays are fast approaching, we have some immediate needs that we could use your help in filling, here is a link to our Amazon Wish List:
Also, we could always use donations of any kind of dog food, cat food, and cat litter to help our ever growing demand from our 4-legged friends. Lol and of course treats to keep our cookie jars filled 😋.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and to celebrate we will be closing at 3:15pm on Friday, February 14th for Mike and my 4th year wedding anniversary ❤️!
CR 250 E Closed First Week in January for Two Weeks
CR 250 E will be closed at the railroad crossing the first week in January so that the Indiana American Water contractor can jack and bore a water line under the railroad track. The closure is expected to last two weeks, assuming goes well.

My name is Amy, I am the sole owner of Pups Prairie. Here is my story.
I have always had a love for animals. I got my first dog in November 1998. She was a gorgeous Black Cocker Spaniel/ Basset Hound, named Gabby. She was the best and worst of both breeds. She was loving, devotional, mouthy and smelly! She had reactions to vaccines, so no groomers would take her. So my dad showed me how to use dog clippers and my mom showed me how to care for her properly, from smelly ears to basset toes.
In 2003 I purchased my first set of breeding Papillons. We were blessed with 2 litters before I decided to retire them due to my females health issues. In 2004, my parents opened up Ruff Inn Kennel & Pet Resort, a dog and cat boarding facility. In 2005, I got a job working at Pet Supplies Plus, where I learned about pet nutrition and was the youngest Store Assistant at the age 18. This job only lasted 6 months, because Ruff Inn Kennel was running full swing and a Doggie Daycare was needed. So I began caring for a loving Pitbull with destructive separation anxiety.
In 2006, I got married and we decided to have a family. As our family grew, so did our household. In 2009, we became a foster home for dogs in the local shelter, who needed more interactions with pets and people. So, we began adding to our small family.
In 2010, My Best Friend and first canine companion, Gabby, crossed over the rainbow bridge. This was a very dark time for me personally. I had to overcome so many emotional hurdles. After loosing her, I felt compelled to open up my first privately owned dog rescue, Stray Awhile Bed and Breakfast. I poured all of my free time and hard earned money into it. Burying all of my sorrow and loss I began adopting 5 dogs at a time from the local shelter; I got them spayed/ neutered, current on all vaccinations, worked on their socialization then I adopted them out to loving families for FREE!!! or a 40lb bag of dog food. This was a huge financial loss, but it helped move so many animals out of the shelter. I closed the doors to my rescue after less than a year.
In 2011, my husband and I decided to purchase our first home closer to town but in the country, with plans to open up my own home-operated business. In 2014, I began grooming some of Ruff Inn’s more pickier of pets. The ones who didn’t like visiting the groomers. This is where I learned how to scissor trim, because clippers scared them so much, that the families just quit taking them to the groomer.
In 2015, I opened a trial Pups Prairie’s Doggie Daycare 2 days a week at our future location. With a very low turn out rate and very little room to play during bad weather, I ended the trial daycare and began grooming full- time at Ruff Inn Kennel & Pet Resort.
We have designed our future buildings and are now currently working on our funding. Our goal is to build a small grooming salon, where the proceeds then go towards our future pet rescue. We’ll be helping out families who can no longer care for their furry companions. We’ll be a safe place to surrender to and adopt from, with hopes of continued visits to their loving groomer. We’ll also be a safe place for Seniors to retire their Seniors too. Senior pets are highly less adoptable at shelters, these babies go thru depression and often get over looked due to their age or timidness. We’ll be a place where they wont get over looked, for they’ll be looked at and loved on every time our grooming clients visit, because every grooming appointment will approximately fund one senior pet for a month.
