Next week Thursday (2/26) through Sunday (3/1) there will be shows at the AZ State Fairgrounds. Thursday are the Mid Arizona Shetland Sheepdog specialty shows. These start at 9 and will continue through the afternoon

Last weekend the AKC show season here began at the Kachina KC. Hollywood received 2 Best of Breed and 2 Herding Group 3 awards.

Hollywood earned his Emerald Grand Championship UKC title today by going Reserve Best In Show under judge Larry Hansen. He was shown by our daughter, Rebecca.

These are outdoor shows so at least there won't be a jumbotron with monster truck ads to distract Dexter.

Last weekend in New Mexico Mike Tremblay showed Ice (GCH Shenell Sunnyvale Ice Cold) to his Grand Championship title! Ice is sired by our AKC GCHS/UKC CH Trilliant Coming In Hot (Viper). He is the second of the 4 Champion boys in that litter to earn his Grand Championship.

Ice was bred by Janell Lowman and Beki Vale.

Yesterday morning Dexter started acting like he had something in his throat. He kept clearing his throat and clearing his throat... Both Keith and I checked and couldn't find anything stuck. So, I went out to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator and gave him a small slice of cheese. No problem eating that - or the 2nd piece I gave him.

Today I went to the fridge to get cream for my coffee. And I hear a little cough cough behind me. Guess who?

We took nearly 15-year-old Garrett to the vet today because he stopped eating his food. Turns out he has an infected tooth WAY in the back. So now he's on a 2-week course of antibiotics. Otherwise, he's healthy for his age. We did have "well baby" bloodwork (liver/kidney) just as a precaution.

It's SO hard to watch them get old.

I will preface this with saying that we only have one dog here that isn't bark softened...Dexter. And he rarely ever barks.

It was still 105 degrees at 9 pm the other night when our dogs went outside. I'm inside working on the computer to give them time to get their business done when I hear a dog barking nonstop. But the bark isn't from out back, it's from the front yard.

Panicking, thinking that somehow Dexter had gotten past not one but two locked gates I run outside. And there I see the little terrier from the house kitty-corner in our front yard barking. Whew! They guys across the street were working in their carport and he just decided to visit.

This morning, I brought one of Dexter's favorite toys into the room with my computer - thinking he could play in here. Oh no, a minute later he moved it back out to the living room and buried it under his other toys. Sheesh!

And yes, he has a "belly band" on...He's two and has discovered girls. 'Nuff said.

It rained yesterday - 1/4" - which here in Phoenix is a BIG deal. It hasn't rained on June 1st here in over 100 years! It was a nice steady slow rain over a number of hours.

Each dog yard has a covered area so letting them out during the rare rain isn't a problem. Everyone came in nice and dry - except...Dexter and his uncle Maverick. They came in soaking wet from zooming around the yard in the cool rain. Thankfully we have artificial turf, or they would have been a muddy mess.

The biblack in the picture is Sindy (UKC BIS GCH Istari Sunnyvale Wicked Sin) who is way too much of a diva princess to get wet. She needs 3 single points to finish her AKC championship. We hope to have her ready for shows this winter.
