☀️ Summer Safety Reminder for Bulldog Owners ☀️
As temperatures climb, it’s important to remember that English Bulldogs are especially sensitive to heat. Their short noses make it much harder for them to cool themselves compared to many other breeds, so what feels like a pleasant day to us can quickly become dangerous for them.
Here are a few simple ways to keep your Bulldog safe this summer:
🐾 Walk early in the morning or after the sun goes down.
💧 Always bring fresh water and offer frequent breaks.
🌳 Stay in the shade whenever possible.
🚗 Never leave your Bulldog in a parked car—even for a minute.
🏊 Remember that Bulldogs are generally not strong swimmers and should always wear a life jacket around pools, lakes, or boats.
🏠 When it’s very hot outside, indoor play is often the safest option.
Watch for signs of overheating:
• Excessive panting
• Thick or excessive drooling
• Bright red or pale gums
• Weakness or wobbling
• Vomiting
• Collapse or loss of consciousness
If you think your Bulldog is overheating, move them to a cool, shaded area immediately, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, wet them with cool water, and contact your veterinarian right away. Heat stroke is a medical emergency and can become life-threatening very quickly.
We love these amazing dogs, and a little extra caution during Arizona summers can make all the difference. ❤️
Stay cool and give your wrinkly best friend an extra belly rub from all of us at Copper State Bulldogs! 🐶
