UPDATE: GUS DID WONDERFUL. HE IS SUCH A FIGHTER. HE WILL BE GOING HOME TO BE TAKEN CARE OF FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS BY OUR AMAZING FOSTER!! MORE UPDATES COMING SOON.

🚨 A little piggie needs us… meet Gus 💛
(Long read but an important one)

This sweet boy is one of our Wheeks n Squeaks piggies, and just Sunday everything seemed completely normal.

But overnight into Monday, we discovered a noticeable bulge on his abdomen. We got him into the vet today as quickly as possible, and unfortunately, the news wasn’t what we hoped…

Gus has a hernia, and part of his intestines are pushing through a tear in his abdominal wall.
Gus is only six weeks old, just a baby, born to a very special mama piggy named Brenda. He should be spending his days growing, playing, and snuggling—not facing something this serious so early in life.

Gus had just been adopted into a wonderful home, and had only been there three days when this was discovered. Prior to his adoption, he received a full health check with no signs of any issues—that’s how quickly this developed.

Gus was adopted alongside his littermate and best friend, Tuck—the two of them are a bonded pair who have been side by side since birth. Where one goes, the other follows. They nap together, explore together, and find comfort in each other. Keeping them together is so important, and everything we do is with that bond in mind 💛

He will need surgery to repair the tear and place everything back where it belongs, and it’s not a simple procedure. The estimate we received is on the higher end—around $2,300.
Even though Gus has been adopted, we know this is our responsibility. We are committed to making sure he gets everything he needs—so he can heal, stay with Tuck, and continue living the happy life they’ve just begun together in their new home.

If you know us, you know we don’t typically ask for monetary donations. We do everything we can to provide for our piggies through supplies, fosters, and careful planning.
But this… this is one of those moments where we could really use some help.

Gus is such a sweet, gentle little guy, and he deserves the best chance at life—with his brother Tuck right by his side.

✨ Let us introduce you to our princesses… and their sidekicks (plus a couple honorary ones 😉) ✨

Last month, we took in 13 guinea pigs from an overcrowding situation — 9 pups and 4 adult males. This was the largest single-day intake we’ve had to date.

All we knew going in was that there were a bunch pups under three weeks old and several adult males needing to be surrendered. Their s*xes and health was a huge unknown.

That first night was a long one for Mama & Daddy Weeks — carefully s*xing each baby, checking them over, and separating everyone safely. We spent hours making sure the tiniest little ones were eating, drinking, and yes… pooping 💩 (and wow, were they ever!).

After getting everyone examined, we discovered that likely all 13 had ringworm. They were quickly seen by a vet and started on treatment.

From there, it was all hands on deck 💛
Within the first week at Wheeks n Squeaks, they were:
• Set up in spacious cages
• Safely separated by s*x
• Seen by the vet
• Started on treatment
• Transfered our amazing fosters to begin healing

Our fosters truly stepped up in a big way for these sweet babies.

Now, over 30 days later, we’re so happy to share that everyone has healed or is very close to fully healed 🥹

They’ll be ready for adoption in about a week, and we couldn’t be more proud of how far they’ve come.

🌸🐹 Spring has arrived at Wheeks n’ Squeaks, and with it… some very special new arrivals. 🐹🌸

We recently took in two mamas who came to us already pregnant, and over the past couple of weeks, they’ve welcomed four beautiful pups into the world.

Smokey’s pups — Mars (m) & Peep (f)
Born March 13th here at WNS, and growing stronger every day.

Fluffy’s pups — Oreo (m) & Pip (f)
Born March 16th — just a few days behind, but already catching up quickly to their siblings (different mamas, same dad).

It’s always something special to be able to give mamas a safe, calm place to have and raise their babies. We’re really grateful we get to be part of moments like this.

All of the pups will be ready for adoption around mid-April, once they are about 4–5 weeks old.

Smokey and Fluffy are a young bonded pair and will also be looking for a home together around that same time.

UPDATE
We are so blown away by this community! 6 of the 8 piggies have found a forever home. June & Cherry are still available for adoption but as bonded pair as they have always been together and its fitting they are last two together. Thank you to everyone who help with getting this herd homes.

Urgent Rehome/Apot/Foster

A friend of Wheeks n Squeaks is needing help rehoming their herd of 8 piggies, 7 gorgeous ladies and 1 happy neutered boar.

We know that placing 8 piggies into one home is near impossible but we want to try. However we are willing to rehome in pairs or as a single to be paired with a your current piggy. With one exception.....Freddie & Juliet must stay together.

Freddie & Juliet are littermate siblings. Juliet really counts on her brother to give her confidence.

If you ever thought of fostering this would be a great time to sign up! We are at capacity and can not take these piggies into our care without more fosters. Our hopes are to find homes for them quickly or get some new foster on board.

Our goal as a rescue is to be a resource for our guinea pig community here in Arizona. This is just one way we are trying to do just that.
