Second Chance Kitten Rescue

Second Chance Kitten Rescue We are an all volunteer, up and coming 501(c)(3) rescue, dedicated to saving lives of Arizona's free roaming & feral, cats & kittens.

We TNR, rescue, rehabilitate & find Fur Ever homes for cats & kittens in need. Second Chance Kitten Rescue was founded in 2019, however we didn't establish our corporation until 2024. We are an all volunteer 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to help solving Arizona's feral and free-roaming community cat overpopulation crisis. Second Chance Kitten Rescue is committed to humanely reduc

ing the feral and free-roaming cat overpopulation in Arizona through the use of Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) as a long-term solution. TNVR humanely stabilizes the population, improves the cats’ lives, addresses neighbors’ concerns, and helps the entire community reach a solution that benefits everyone. Second Chance Kitten Rescue TNVR is the most humane and effective method available to end feral and free-roaming cat overpopulation. Our goal is to make Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) fully understood, accepted and practiced in every community. We started off with trapping and releasing, then quickly realized we had tons of tiny helpless fur babies that needed a lot of attention and most importantly we needed to keep them off the streets. In addition to our TNR efforts, we provide a safe environment, rehabilitate, provide medical care and eventually rehome these precious babies and in many cases, we are able to help their mothers, fathers and offspring find their Fur Ever homes too! Your donations help keep our mission alive and saves the lives of hundreds of innocent cats/kittens each year. Our efforts wouldn't be possible without caring people like yourself. Thank you for your support. Second Chance Kitten Rescue provides fundamental services for feral and free-roaming community cats in Arizona. We advocate for spay/neuter and Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) for all feral cats and free-roaming cats in Western New York. We provide access to local high-quality, high-volume low-cost spay/neuter surgery in a safe and humane environment. We collaborate with others and mentor like-minded organizations to increase spay/neuter and Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) in their communities and neighborhoods. We loan humane traps to the public for TNVR and provide education on humanely trapping feral cats for TNVR. We offer guidance and information to feral cat caregivers on the long-term care and management of feral/free roaming cat colonies. We provide businesses, individuals and residential complexes, with information on the many benefits of implementing a TNVR program in their communities and neighborhoods. We provide them with the tools needed to establish TNVR as an effective, cost-saving and humane method of managing feral and free-roaming cat “community cat” numbers. Our organization is a big advocated of Animal Welfare. Please view our website for additional information.

Adoptions may be slow… but the need never is.

Summer has been a little quiet when it comes to adoptions, but unfortunately, the number of homeless kitties coming through our doors has not slowed down.

While fewer kitties are finding their forever homes, more cats and kittens continue to need safety, medical care, food, love, and a place to land. We are doing everything we can to help them… but we need YOU. ❤️

Meet some of our current kitties who are patiently waiting for their forever families! 🐱🏡

They each have their own personalities, stories, and so much love to give. All they need is someone willing to see them, choose them, and give them the happy ending they deserve.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please consider one of these sweet babies. And if you aren’t able to adopt right now, sharing this post could be the thing that puts one of them in front of their person.

👉 Adopt. Share. Tag a friend. Spread the word.

Because every share matters. Every adoption makes room for another animal in need. And every forever home changes a life.

Our kitties are waiting. Please help us get them home.

Update on our boy, Chewy, who was diagnosed recently with FIP.

He is a fighter this one. His white bloods cells were so out of normal range it’s a miracle that he has survived. It has also been tricky because Chewy is mostly feral and a permanent resident at SCKR so administering medicine has been a challenge.

Somehow and some way Lisa was able to get him to a point where he is eating again, gaining some weight back, and we see more energy. But the road to recovery of FIP is long and of course expensive.

Chewy is doing so much better, but he makes it very difficult for RX administration because we can no longer handle him now that he is feeling better. We also cant weigh him weekly for medication adjustments, and we have to try sneaking his meds into food, which gets sometimes gets wasted if he doesnt eat it.

With the cost of meds in excess of $400 for less than a 30 day supply it costly so any donations at this time are appreciated. We just received a positive test that one of our cats also had FIP so we will begin the cycle with her as well.

Check out our stories for more information on FIP, how cats contract FIP, the recovery processes, and more!

They don’t talk about this enough in rescue.

The cats you keep because they either have medical issues or never socialize fully. You set out wanting each and every kitten to be adopted but it isn’t your choice. It’s up to the potential adopters. Do they like black kittens? Will a kitten with health concern be a fit for them? How will a shy one win over adopters? The list goes on and on.

So we are left with our sanctuary cats. The ones no one wanted but we would never give up on. The ones we may not cuddle with nightly or may have to see the vet frequently. But that would never change how we care of feel about them. That’s Chewy. He never fully socialized after being saved as a kitten.

Now he has dry FIP and is fighting for his life. His care is timely and costly and sometimes a little scary because we don’t know if he will try to bite because he is so scared. But Lisa, our co-founder spends hours a day in addition to her full time job caring for him. Because at this rescue we NEVER give up. We fight for each little soul no matter how severe the case is.

So tonight we ask that you send some positive energy for Chewy and us. We ask that you share this post. This is rescue. This is the commitment we make to all that comes into our care. It takes time, money, energy, and a whole lot of effort but we wouldn’t do it any other way.

xoxo

And even worse he expects his brother Snoop to live rent free with us too?!

That’s right our sweet Buster is still looking for his forever home. He has went to an adopter once and didn’t do well alone so we suggest him and his brother Snoop to go to a home together. After all they have been together for a year now.

He also has had plenty of people interested him but he is shy at first and we always have smaller kittens that end up getting adopted instead of him.

He needs:
✅ A home where he and his brother can be the only cats. He is fine with dogs and honestly our cats but we think he would do best as an only cat with Snoop.
✅ Patience in getting to know him and helping with his confidence in a new home.
✅ A lap to lay on because he loves to take a nap with his humans.
✅ Play time so he can get all his energy out.
✅ A fellow foodie like himself, any treat or can of food that comes out you can find Buster right there waiting for it.
✅ Someone who enjoys a big boy because kittens grow up too 🤷🏼‍♀️
✅ Love, because out of all our kitties he is such a big lover.

Please reach out if you are interested or share with your network. Buster and Snoop deserved to be the kings of the house with tons of love. ❤️ 🐾
