WELCOME TO ELISTER PICTO! ✨

SO happy we were able to pull this boy!! Thank you to his fosters and to the other apps that were interested - it's not often we get multiple fosters interested in an e-lister! This boy is just gorgeous and so deserving though.

He unfortunately came out of the shelter with a pretty bad case of kennel cough - we are hoping he starts to improve soon, but he may have some more vet visits in his future if not. He still needs to be neutered since they did not want to do it at the shelter with how sick he had become! His fosters are taking great care of him in the meantime, and from the sounds of it, he is very happy to be out of the shelter and in a home.

They are hoping to adopt him if all goes well in the next few weeks! We just need to get him healthy first. They said they could not believe this sweet boy was on the e-list - which is exactly what we said! The stress of the shelter can really do something to some of these poor dogs. We're so glad he's getting a second chance!

This perfect dog is elisted!! 😭 Picto needs a foster to save his life. He is just stunning. Emi met him today and can’t stop raving about how perfect he is too!

He was found running as a stray with a 12yo who said he wasn’t her dog. He got scared when he came to the shelter and was poked at by a bunch of people. He wasn’t reactive at all in the lobby, and he just loved Emi today! He sat, gave his paw and high fives for treats! We just love him!

Fill out a foster form on our website to save this boy - we only have a couple days!!

ADOPTION EVENT TOMORROW!

What a great opportunity to meet SEVEN of our dogs in one place!! This is going to be so much fun too! We will be be at the Pet Fest Event that is held AFTER the 5k from 9am to 12pm - and it's family-friendly and FREE for all!

This event is hosted by Wiggles and Wags Pet Resort at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. There will be vendors, adoptable dogs, food trucks and fun activities. Here's who will be with us:

************
Logan - We thought he was adopted, but it didn't work out! Such a gem, we love this boy so, so much. He's dog and kid friendly, and can be a little shy at first. When he opens up, he loves with all his heart!

Chase - Outgoing and full of energy, Chase is such a lover! He's friendly right off the bat but can sometimes get a little overstimulated. He has some resource guarding, though it is easily managed if you have experience. Kids 12+ and experienced adopter needed.

Misto - The sweetest boy! Super friendly, great with other dogs, can be overwhelmed in new situations but overall just full of love. Gives great kisses - he was a medical pull who had the surgery he needed and is all better!

Tango - Also a medical pull, this sweet girls is well-managed on meds that she needs longterm. She's good with other dogs large and small and so affectionate!

Chloe - She's come so far since we got her! Initially fearful and standoffish, she's blossomed into a sweet, social girl who loves to play with other pups. She is so much better with strangers and new situations and has so much love to give!

Blizzard - This guy is so outgoing, goofy, playful and full of personality! He will keep you laughing all day. He loves other dogs, so playful pups would be huge to to get his energy out!

Axle - This 5mo pup is still looking for his forever home!! He's friendly, outgoing, playful and social - come meet him!

I owe you an update on Misha!

It’s been a few days since surgery, and an adjustment for both of us, but honestly everything is going great! His surgeon said this was definitely a tough one, but he is happy with how his left leg turned out. His left leg was the one that looked better initially, so the next surgery is going to be even harder!

His left leg had a grade 3 patellar luxation and a lot of scar tissue that needed to be broken down to allow his leg to bend as it needed to again. His kneecap had never been in the right place his entire life before this - how strange it must feel to him! It’s so cool seeing his leg extended out just like a normal dog after all this time seeing it stuck in a bent position. His surgeon thinks we need to give this surgery a full 8 weeks to heal before the next.

For those 8 weeks he will be rotated between a pen while I’m home / watching and a kennel while I’m at school / sleeping. He gets 5-10 min “walk” breaks several times a day, though I need to fully support his back end while he is healing. He is a little confused but is taking it in stride so far. He is still eating great, giving kisses and happy to be along for the ride. Sometimes we just stop, sit and watch the squirrels on our “walks” - that’s one of his favorites! So many squirrels in Kansas!

This lovable guy still has a long road ahead of him, but we’ve taken a major step towards a long, healthy life for him! I will share more updates as he continues to heal, but for now just know that all is well with this sweet boy. 💙

Guess who is getting surgery RIGHT NOW!?

That's right, today is finally the long-awaited day for our good boy Misha! If you don't remember him, he was surrendered to a shelter in Southern AZ a few months back and sadly faced euthanasia because his congenital limb abnormalities were so severe. Thankfully, we got a foster to keep him until I could pick him up while I was home for the summer, and I was able to take him back to vet school with me in Kansas this semester! He is finally getting his second chance at life, and it all starts today!

This is the first of 2 surgeries that will allow him to actually use all 4 of his legs for the very first time in his life!! It's hard to see in photos, but his right hind limb is twisted in such a way that he can't even use it. It's just always bent and hanging out under him, and that's all he's ever known. Both of his knee caps are so far out of where they belong that they're stuck in place on the outside edge of his leg - look at your own leg and just imagine what that would be like!!

This sweet boy has never let any of it get him down. He has the most infectious personality and loves everyone and everything. He gave me a ton of kisses when I brought him in today, and I promised him it was all gonna be worth it in the end. I know we have a rough few months ahead of us as he heals, but seeing him walk and run like a normal dog will make it all so worthwhile!

OH! and he had a CT scan a few weeks ago - well, I got to see the 3d printed limbs they made of his legs. It was so cool! These help them plan out his surgery for the best success. Take a look at the pics to get a better idea of how this congenital problem messes up his legs so bad in the first place.

The total cost of his surgeries will be around 10k, and he is going to need PT when he gets back to Phoenix (and a foster!) - please donate if you can, or let us know if you might want to take this guy in around December / January! We just can't wait to watch him get better!

FOSTER NEEDED FOR ENZO!!!

This poor guy can't catch a break! Enzo is so sweet and had so much interest at first. Now, he's lined up to go to boarding in 2 days. PLEASE help us find a foster for this sweet boy before then so he doesn't have to go back to a shelter setting yet again! He's such a good boy, he really hasn't done anything wrong.

He has not been escaping a crate in his foster home, but he has been very vocal in one. There is not another dog in his foster home currently, so having other dogs there when he's left behind in the home may significantly reduce his anxiety. He starts scratching at the door and panicking when left out alone in the home too, so he does need to be crated. Again, we don't know if this will change with other canine companionship! A decent amount of time to decompress and adjust would probably help a ton too - poor guy has been shuffled around a bit, before he even came to us!

The reason Enzo needs to move? The kitties in his foster home are too stressed. He has been trying to play with them - probably because there isn't another dog there honestly - and they have been hiding constantly since he entered the home. They are older cats, and the fosters are concerned about their well-being. He is not trying to hurt the cats and is cat-friendly, but as with any other husky we think he would do best with cats that are themselves comfortable with dogs.

Enzo has been around kids as young as 3 and did great! He went to a dog park and was so happy to play with all the dogs, big and small. He truly is a friendly, fun-loving pup just looking for a place to fit in. He is also available to adopt!!

We need a foster most of all though - please help us keep this sweet guy out of boarding!! We have 2 days to find him somewhere to go!!

ADOPTIONS AT PETSMART TIL 3!

Come meet Misto and December! These adorable sweet boys will be with us at PetSmart in Tempe until 3pm today. They have both been looking for a forever home for a while now. Misto had surgery 1-2mos ago and is healing wonderfully! We are so happy for him to finally be pain-free and thriving! December has come so far from the shut down shy boy he was in the shelter.

Misto would be best with older kids and is great with other dogs - he loves to play!

December is good with kids of all ages and good with other dogs - we don't know about cats yet.

Not to brag, but I neutered these puppies!

On August 18th! Over a month ago!!! Just before I went back to vet school for the summer… we are 5 weeks into the semester now, and what I’d really like to know is WHY THEY AREN’T ADOPTED YET! 🥺😭

I hate seeing puppies grow up in rescue. Once they hit a certain age, people become far less interested - and I’m worried we’ve hit that point with these boys. We took in 4 initially, and 2 were adopted. Somehow we still have these 2 boys left. They are so sweet and friendly, but they do have all the husky energy you could imagine. They need homes that understand the breed and the amount of exercise and stimulation they will need as they grow. They just love to play and want to be your best friend right now!

They have been with a wonderful foster who has worked hard teaching them the basics. They have been working on kennel training and potty training - but the potty training in particular gets so much harder when they are together!

Piston and Axle are 5 months old now, and they really need to find their forever homes. Please apply to meet them - their foster would love to introduce you!

ARLO - STILL AVAILABLE!

This happy-go-lucky boy has been with us for 9 MONTHS now! There’s literally nothing wrong with this dog - we don’t know why he keeps getting passed up! Help us for a home for Arlo (originally Chucky at MCACC)!

Arlo was e-listed after being adopted and returned too many times. Multiple people cited separation anxiety after giving him very little time to adjust to a new home… and it turned out his anxiety was completely adjustment-related. Now that he’s decompressed, he’s become an amazing good boy with a lot more confidence!

Arlo adapted beautifully to his foster home when given some time. He knows some commands and responds so well to redirection. Arlo also just LOVES to play! Whether he’s romping around with other dogs or chasing after a ball, he’s always ready for fun. He enjoys playtime so much that he’ll even entertain himself with a toy – it’s seriously adorable! Sometimes he loves his toys a little too much and needs to be reminded to share, but he’s learning. He is not a fighter and doesn’t even react when other dogs growl at him. Arlo is very affectionate with people and enjoys cuddling up on your lap. Walks and hikes are for best friend to help get his energy out!

Arlo would thrive in an active home and can do well with kids 3+ according to his foster. He’d be best with other playful dogs. His adopter should prepare for a short decompression period to help him feel safe and secure. We have not cat-tested him. He’s the sweetest dog and is sure to make his future family incredibly happy. Please fill out an app to meet him!
