35 years ago, Bob and Rita packed up their lives on Long Island, took a leap of faith, and moved across the country to build what Pet Food Depot is today.
What began just up the road as a drive-through pet store, then grew into a farm & feed shop, has continued to evolve with the times. As the world and the economy have changed, so have we — and today, we’re proud to be a store that’s nearly 90% focused on small pets, serving families across the Valley.

Through it all, one thing has never changed: we do this for the pets.

To our incredible team whose hard work keeps us moving forward, and to our loyal customers who support us year after year — thank you for helping us keep our doors open and our mission alive.

It has come to our attention that our commitment to top-quality pet nutrition, supporting small pet brands, and spoiling your fur babies for 35 years has caused a few unexpected lifestyle consequences for local pet parents.

Reports confirm dogs dragging their humans into our stores with the confidence of a creature who pays the mortgage, cats strategically appearing near carriers the moment someone whispers “Pet Food Depot,” and Frenchies acting like our freezer section is their personal runway.

We’ve also learned that many of you visit us so often that our team now knows your pets’ favorite treats, their allergies, their moods, their preferred nicknames, and exactly which bag size you pretend you’re not buying every week. Some pets have even been influencing GPS routes to ensure your car ends up on Cave Creek Road, Hayden Road, or Cactus Road. Coincidence? We think not.

If this has created extra errands, detours, or conversations in your day, we sincerely apologize for absolutely nothing.

We never expected dogs to treat Pet Food Depot like their personal Costco, cats to act like they’re checking in for a spa reservation, or humans to now casually say things like “bonus bones,” “freeze-dried frenzy,” or “just one more bag won’t hurt.” But we accept full responsibility for stocking brands and products worth the extra drive, the extra cart trip, and the extra joy.
