This page is dedicated in the memory of my Grandmother Gloria Smith, she dedicated her life to caring for stray cats. She gave food, shelter and loving attention to the "cast-away" cats of Echo Beach, in Bensalem PA. She took them to the vet, spayed and neutered every one of them, and mostly all of them stayed their entire lifetime with her. I have decided to extend her lifes work by helping any s

tray cat that I can, to find a loving home. This was my Grandmother's joy in life, and all cats deserve a loving "Mom" like Gloria.

Cats can be very persistent

After the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster forced over 160,000 people to evacuate, one man made an extraordinary choice: he stayed. Sakae Kato couldn’t walk away from the animals left behind. Some had already perished, while others were still waiting, hungry, scared, and abandoned. Over the past decade, Kato has lived alone in the restricted area of Namie, dedicating his life to caring for these forgotten pets.

With no running water, he collects what he needs from a nearby mountain spring, travels to public facilities when necessary, and spends nearly everything he earns on food, fuel, and veterinary care. At one point, he cared for more than 40 cats in his home, feeding, tending, and loving them every day, despite the immense challenges of isolation and radiation risks.

In interviews, Kato has shared a simple yet profound reason for staying: he wanted to be there for every last animal that still needed him. His life is far from easy, but his purpose is clear. In a world where many flee when disaster strikes, Kato’s story reminds us that true courage and compassion are often measured by those who stay behind for the ones who cannot protect themselves.

Consider adopting a senior cat. It’s not just kittens that need homes. They need love and care in their golden years. They still have some cuddles and love to give.

Welcome home ❤

Today being "International Woman's day" I read the posts... "Who has been the most influential woman in your life." Thinking about the answer I would have to say my maternal grandmother Gloria, whose entire "career" was as a wife and mother, and raised 5 kids, took excellent care of my diabetic grandfather, and would make excuses for me to stay home from school on beautiful days like this so we could walk along the river together and she'd teach me all about the animals that lived along it, and how to skip stones, she always kept a drawer of paper and pencils for me to draw with, she encouraged me to use my imagination, and to never hurt animals even bugs, all of them had a "life" she never made any money, but she seemed so happy in her world and she taught me more about life and being a good person than any school ever could. I miss her so much it aches inside, but I see her in every tree, I feel her in the breeze, and I see her looking back at me in my reflection in the river.

**Serious Inquiries Only** Looking for a good home for my 12 year old chihuahua, Molly. She would most likely be happiest with a household of only women or a single woman, since she gets a little nervous around men. She is lovable and affectionate towards her person, but doesn’t do too well with other pets. She is an inside pet and was trained to a litterbox or puppy pads, but will go outside in a fenced in yard, if need be. Her original owner, my great aunt, passed and we took her in. Unfortunately, my dog does not get along with her, which causes a lot of stress for her when she is already grieving. She is an older dog, so we just want her to have some peace and not be so nervous, but we want her to go to a good home with someone who will be a good fit for her and take good care of her.
