✨TRAINER TIP ✨ One of my biggest pet peeves as a judge is twisted reins and I see them ALL the time. Trainers, please check your kids’ reins before they go in the ring.

👋Also, if their horse or pony goes in a Pelham, double check that the snaffle rein is on top and they know how to properly hold both reins.

⭐️In an effort to make more trainers, riders, and parents aware of why judges score and judge the way we do, I’m going to start sharing some USEF rules and good scoring practices. Since I am a USEF judge I choose to follow their general rules when judging, regardless if a show is rated or not.⭐️

So, here’s my first USEF Rule Book Reminder….

✳️HU109.6 - No course may have exhibitors trotting or cantering through the in-gate or out-gate; any exhibitor choosing to trot or canter through the in-gate or out-gate will be eliminated.

So basically, if you trot or canter through the in-gate, you are immediately eliminated ❌.

This rule is in place for the safety of all horses and exhibitors.👍

Every sport takes hard work and dedication. All my years of riding gave me a great foundation for learning how to be resilient, consistent, dedicated and tough. I remember riding anything and everything, and having an endless thirst for knowledge when it came to horses.🐴

Now at 43, I have used those lessons to do something I never thought I could…run a half marathon. 🏃‍♀️ And through it all, I had an amazing coach that I trusted and listened to whole-heartedly ❤️ (Michael Fitzpatrick & Tru Endurance = the best!)

So, set a goal, work hard, listen to your coach/trainer and go get it done. Hard work and a thirst for learning can make things you thought impossible to be within your reach! 🏅🌟
