Wishing you, your family, and your horses a safe and happy Independence Day!

While the fireworks are beautiful for us, they can be stressful for our equine partners. Even horses that appear calm may spend the evening bracing, pacing, running fences, or holding tension throughout their bodies. That tension can linger long after the fireworks are over.

If you remember, about four years ago I trained and sold a little grey mare named Fortune. I recently received this update from her owner, and it absolutely made my day.

If you were at Midwest Horse Fair this year, you may have even seen her in action!

Here’s what her owner had to say:

“She truly is more than I ever expected. She was supposed to be hubby’s horse, but now she’s my main drill partner and we have the best time together. She literally does it all! Roping, trails, drill… everything!”

Messages like this are the best part of what I do. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing a horse you poured so much time into is still making someone’s life better years later.
