Also, I will be out of the salon 5/20-5/27. I have some openings left for next week before I leave for my trip so book ahead if needing in while I’m gone! 🫶🏽

A few of you may have noticed recently that your appointment times have been running a little longer lately 🫣 Typically, grooms were around 3-4 hours but recently they’ve been closer to 4-5 hours.

Usually around the holidays, I increase my availability to make sure I can accommodate everyone. Well, my clientele has grown astronomically (NOT complaining, so very thankful for all of your trust). Because of that, I’ve continued taking up to 10 appointments in an 8 hour shift. Most power groomers doing that volume have a personal bather and work longer days. While I do have amazing coworkers how help me with bathing when they can, I still handle a lot myself. Doing more grooms a day will never equal less attention or skimping out on quality. I take great pride in my work.

Also, I’ve unfortunately been dealing with a bad flare-up of ankylosing spondylitis (a form of arthritis that affects my spine and hips), some days I move slower and some days bending to work with larger breeds is quite difficult, almost impossible. So that has definitely affected timing some days.

That said, I don’t have a ton of control over how things are booked but I am working on testing out a few different scheduling options over the next few months to work on getting everyone in and out more efficiently. I truly appreciate your patience and understanding while I figure out the best system.

I’m so happy to be able to do what I love & build such amazing relationships with you all and your pups. If you are ever in a time crunch when it comes to your grooming appointment, please let me know at drop off so I can accommodate the best I can! 🖤

I hope everyone has been enjoying their Easter weekend! I had a very busy week so I’m spending it at home with my own fur babies getting some much needed R&R.🐣🐰🖤

This sweet dog came in severely matted. His hair came off in one single piece. Took over 1.5 hours to preshave. This level of matting is not okay. It’s painful, it can cause sores and skin issues and it significantly impacts a dog’s quality of life.

His owner was going through an extremely difficult time and knew their dog needed help. They were trying to do the right thing for their pet, yes it was long overdue but not every situation is as simple as it looks. Theres a lot to this story that I will not disclose but thankfully they came in at the right time for me to be able to take care of him. I am not at all excusing this or trying to make it seem like it’s okay. This situation just truly broke my heart for all involved. Compassion goes a long way.

I’m sharing this for two reasons:

1. Matting IS preventable.
Regular grooming is essential for your dog’s health and comfort, not just their appearance. Your groomer won’t just shave your dog because “they’re being lazy”, we truly prefer not to do that. We do it because it’s the only option sometimes. I know many people aren’t educated enough on this but that’s what I’m here for!

2. There is no judgment here, but there is responsibility.
Life happens and people fall behind. But our pets rely on us and getting them help as soon as possible matters.

If your dog is matted or overdue, please don’t avoid bringing them in out of fear or embarrassment. This IS considered animal abuse/neglect. I would always rather help your dog than have them continue to suffer. And if finances are a concern, reach out, we can talk and try to figure something out.

Take care of your pets. Ask questions when you’re unsure. Do research on the breed before investing. They depend on you.🖤

✨ Pricing Update ✨

I want to give everyone a heads up that starting tomorrow, February 2nd, grooming prices will be increasing by $1–$9 depending on breed.

This is a company-wide change at PetSmart and unfortunately not something I have control over. It’s being done to keep up with current demand and pricing.

I truly do my best to keep prices as low as possible and I completely understand how frustrating price increases are, everyone is just trying to survive right now. Myself included 😂

Exploring Guatemala has been incredible & I fell in love with the sweet street pups that are all over the country (& a couple horses 🤭). So much love, resilience and gentle souls everywhere you look. Very different lives but still the same wagging tails and sweet eyes.

Excited to get back home and back to the salon tomorrow! See you guys soon! 🫶🏽🐾
