A no knock SWAT raid on a cancer patient... Police were given very misleading information. Instead of checking out that information they just used it to get a warrant for a no knock RAID on a private home. They busted out a window with a flash gr***de and kicked in a door on the other side of the house and came rushing in. The owner / husband has two kinds of cancer but police didn't know this. They put everyone in the home including kids at gun point. The man got one dog in a kennel in a safe place but the police went nuts with a gun. On the positive side, the political climate changed in 2014.
More police officers have received additional training in dog encounters this year than ever before.
Nine police officers have lost their badges in 2014 due to shooting dogs- off and on-duty.
This includes "early retirement," restrictive duty, resignation, firing or unpaid leave.
Six officers have been criminally charged with animal cruelty.
Two pleaded guilty.
One was acquitted and "retired early", the other cases are still ongoing.
Colorado's mandated training law- The Dog Protection Act begins on Jan. 1.
