Meet Rosey our Patient of the Month!!
Rosey is a 7 yr FS Goldendoodle that was hospitalized at AVECCC Peoria for 8 days for management of IMHA. Rosey was initially seen by AVECCC Buckeye for an initial complaint of lethargy and anorexia. Her diagnostic results were supportive of IMHA and was discharged on an outpatient basis with steroids and anti-coagulant medications. Unfortunately, Rosey did not respond to outpatient treatment and re-presented to AVECCC Peoria. Rosey was hospitalized for about 8 days. During her hospitalization, Rosey received three packed red blood cell transfusions, unfractionated heparin constant rate infusion (CRI), and started on two immunosuppressive medications. Rosey responded well to treatment showing a stable packed cell volume. Rosey has since followed up with the Desert Veterinary Medical Specialist Internal Medicine service and is doing well at home!
