Pain management is a key part of veterinary care, especially in emergencies or after surgery. Our ER and critical care teams focus on making pets as comfortable as possible while providing life-saving treatments.

Common ways we manage pain:
✔ Prescription medications tailored to your pet’s condition
✔ Local anesthetics for targeted relief
✔ IV or oral pain medications for fast-acting comfort
✔ Supportive care, including soft bedding, warmth, and gentle handling

Every pet’s pain is unique, and we adjust treatment based on their needs. Comfort and care go hand-in-hand with advanced medical treatment.

Trust AVECCC to keep your pet safe, comfortable, and cared for by our skilled ER and Critical Care Specialists.

Did you know chocolate toxicity can take hours to appear?

Chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs and cats. Symptoms may not show immediately, sometimes taking up to 6–12 hours after ingestion.

If your pet has eaten any amount of chocolate, call your vet immediately, even if they seem fine.

Rapid action can prevent serious complications.

Congratulations to Dawnell - our Employee of the Month!

First off, I want to extend my thanks to each and every one on our amazing team! I really enjoy working alongside each and every one of you.

In 30 years of working in veterinary industry, everything from vet technician role to leadership roles, I have been blessed to be part of teams with such caring, compassionate, and hilarious people. It is one of the reasons, I continue to work in this field. My other reason is my passion for working with clients and pets alike. Building a relationship with them whether it is for one visit or for many years to come. My hope is to have made a lasting, positive impact on families and their pets' journeys.
When I am not working, I enjoy being in nature soaking up the beauty around us, spending time with my family and fur kids, and creating new crafts & hobbies to keep me busy.

Meet Rein - a 5 year-old female Border Collie! 🐾

This sweet pup came to us when her family noticed her gums were pale and greyish in color, she was lethargic, and not acting like her normal self. After running diagnostics, our team discovered she was battling IMHA (immune-mediated hemolytic anemia) - a serious condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own red blood cells.

She was hospitalized in our ICU for three days, where our amazing team provided round-the-clock care. Her treatment included steroids to stop her immune system from attacking her own red blood cells, a blood transfusion to replenish the cells she had lost, and medications to help prevent dangerous blood clots. Thanks to her incredible strength (and a lot of love from her care team!), she soon began to stabilize and show signs of improvement.

We’re so happy to see her heading home and continuing her recovery surrounded by her family’s love. 💕 Please join us in wishing this brave girl a smooth and steady road to full health!

As we wrap up National Veterinary Technician Week, we want to give a massive shoutout to the incredible techs who keep this hospital running!

You do it all - comforting anxious pets, cleaning up mystery messes, and somehow finding time to make it look easy. You’re the heart, soul, and (let's be honest) the comic relief of every shift, and we’re endlessly grateful for you.

Here’s to you, our multitasking superheroes in scrubs - thank you for all you do! We couldn’t do this without you (and honestly, we wouldn’t want to try)! 💚🐾
