It’s official. I’m home! No more fosters, no more foster-to-adopts that just didn’t pan out for one reason or another!
Is it possible for two Christmas wishes to come true this year? You bet it is! Ducky came in as a young pup, part of an "oops litter". There is no such thing as an "oops litter", please have your pets spayed and neutered! There was something about Ducky, a little extra something special that made him stand out from his littermates. Ducky showed potential of being a service dog. Off he went for the next 18 months to train. He did so well and was ready to officially become a service dog, but he had one last test to pass...... his physical. Hip dysplasia can't be checked until bone growth is completed and having shepherd in him he needed to pass the orthopedic evaluation. Sadly, at 18 months his xray revealed he already showed signs of mild hip dysplasia. His service dog career ended before it officially started. Though he enjoyed his training immensely Ducky was just as happy to settle in and become a loving companion animal. Just in time for Christmas, Ducky's family signed his adoption paperwork and he woke up Christmas morning in his very own fur-ever home! He may not wear a vest that says service dog but Ducky wears the best gift of all.... the love of a family!!! Happy Tails, Ducky!!!!!
