Ruffles update! ❤️

This tiny little fighter is continuing to heal. Ruffles received another dose of strong pain medication (Zorbium) to help keep him comfortable as he pushes through unimaginable injuries. At just over 1 pound, this sweet baby has such an incredible will to live.

For those asking about his condition, here is part of what Ruffles is battling through after the traumatic dog attack:

• Multiple acute rib fractures
• Significant trauma to his chest and lungs
• Pulmonary contusions (bruising to the lungs)
• Pleural effusion and traumatic pneumothorax (fluid and air around the lungs)
• Severe swelling, bruising, and trapped air under the skin consistent with major trauma

Despite everything, Ruffles continues to fight every single day. He remains on strict carrier/crate rest while his fragile little body heals, and we are monitoring him very closely.

We’ll be sharing updated photos of him at the vet and resting safely in his carrier. We would still greatly appreciate donations to help cover his ongoing veterinary expenses. Cases like this are emotionally and financially overwhelming, but babies like Ruffles deserve every chance possible.

We are absolutely devastated to share this update. 💔

Last night this very young momma cat underwent emergency surgery in an attempt to save her life and her babies after one kitten became stuck during labor. She made it through surgery and was able to come home… but sometime after, she sadly passed away. We do not know what happened.

There truly are no words for this tragedy. She was just a baby herself and she did not deserve this outcome.

Her finder is beyond heartbroken, and our rescue is devastated for her and for the three surviving babies she leaves behind from the emergency C-section. Right now the kittens are temporarily being nursed by another momma cat, but she already has too many babies of her own to fully support them.

WE DESPERATELY NEED A BOTTLE FEEDER FOR THESE NEWBORNS. 🍼

We also urgently need donations to help cover the cost of momma’s emergency surgery and care. So far we have received little to no help. We understand everyone is struggling right now, but rescues cannot continue stepping up for these heartbreaking emergencies without community support.

One of our fosters found a very young momma cat outside in severe distress. This poor baby is far too young to even be having babies herself, and now she is being rushed to the emergency veterinary hospital because one of her kittens is stuck in the birth canal. 💔

This is the heartbreaking reality of the animal crisis in Texas every single day. Babies having babies. Suffering that could have been prevented.

Please, PLEASE do better for animals. Spay and neuter your pets. TNR community cats. Educate others. Stop allowing innocent animals to suffer because of preventable overpopulation.

We will update everyone once we know more, but right now we are asking for positive thoughts for this sweet girl as she fights through this emergency. 🐾

Tiny Ruffles… just 4 weeks old and barely one pound. 🧡 Like a cheddar sour cream chip, he’s both salty and sweet all wrapped into one tiny kitten.

This precious baby was attacked by dogs and rushed to the veterinarian today. Despite his little body fighting so hard, his prognosis is poor. We are doing everything we can to give him comfort, love, and a chance.

At Lone Star Pawz, every animal we take in is treated like one of our own no matter how heartbreaking their beginning may be. Ruffles deserves to know kindness, safety, and compassion during this critical time.

🚨 PSA Houston & beyond 🚨

We are a foster-based rescue — just like most rescues in Texas. We do not have unlimited space, empty kennels, or magic solutions. We rely on the public to help with this animal crisis.

We can medically vet animals, market them, and get them to amazing homes — but we cannot do it without fosters and community support.

Rescue people are just like you. We have jobs, kids, spouses, pets, bills, and busy lives. The difference is we said yes anyway.

If you cannot foster, then PLEASE do something else:• Educate your community• Fight for stronger spay/neuter laws• TNR• Volunteer• Donate• Share adoptable animals• Visit your local shelter and see what these animals go through every day

These animals did not choose this life. They did not ask to be dumped, neglected, born outside, starving, sick, or euthanized because there is nowhere for them to go.

And before saying you “can’t help,” remember even small things matter. One coffee. One fast food meal. One unnecessary purchase could help spay/neuter an animal, buy food, or save a life.

Compassion without action changes nothing.

We are running out of time for Duchess. We only have 9 days left now….

Duchess is a very good girl with a gentle heart and so much love to give. She’s just looking for a place to finally call home — somewhere safe, comfortable, and filled with kindness. ❤️

But right now, we have NOWHERE for her to go.

All of our fosters are completely full, and Duchess only has 11 days left at boarding before we are out of options. We are desperately trying to find a foster.

🚨 FUNDRAISER FOR LOUIS 🚨

Please help us save Louis. 💔

Louis is only 5 months old.

After just 2 days of feeding him every 90 minutes, encouraging him to walk, and giving him nonstop care, Louis took his very first solo steps today. Watching him try so hard despite everything he has endured has been emotional beyond words.

Louis was found as a stray — something far too common in Texas. Severely neglected, dangerously malnourished, weak, and struggling to survive. You can see in the photos just how heartbreaking his condition truly is. He also appears to have an injury to one of his legs that will need veterinary assessment once he gains more strength and stability.

Right now our priority is keeping him eating, hydrated, warm, and fighting.

Please… take care of your animals. They do not ask to be dumped, abandoned, or born into a life of struggle and suffering. Animals depend on humans for protection, love, and care.

We do not yet know the full extent of Louis’ medical needs, but we do know he deserves a chance.

This is one of the hardest posts we’ve had to write.

Over the past few weeks, our rescue has taken a major financial hit. Both of our transport vehicles—the very lifeline that gets animals to safety and into their forever homes—required critical repairs totaling over $10,000.

These aren’t optional expenses. These vehicles are how we save lives.

Every dollar we receive goes directly into the care of our animals—medical, food, supplies, and transport. When something like this happens, it doesn’t just hurt… it threatens our ability to continue rescuing at all.

💔 The Reality We’re Facing

* We take in animals others turn away
* We respond to urgent surrenders and animals found suffering outside
* Texas euthanizes hundreds of thousands of animals every year—and that doesn’t even count those who never make it into shelters

We step in where we can… but right now, we need help to keep saying “yes.”

We are taking in so many moms with babies right now—cats with tiny kittens, dogs with newborn puppies—many coming from the streets or straight off the euthanasia list.

Our fosters are stepping up in a big way… but they need support.

Right now, we are keeping it simple because these are the items we are going through the FASTEST:

That’s it. These two things are what keep these babies clean, fed, and alive in those critical early weeks.
