Meet Tig - proof that love can be lost, but with hope, love can be found again.
At 7-8 years old, Tig should be enjoying his golden years curled up beside someone who adores him. Instead, he was found slowly plodding down a county road alone, over 10 miles from the only "home" he’d ever known—no collar, no signs that anyone was looking for him.
We were elated that he was microchipped and we were able to locate his person! We hoped that he had simply wandered away from home and his family was worried sick.
We were wrong.
She wasn’t worried. She wasn’t even interested. "We don't want him. . . " And just like that, Tig’s world crumbled. But we are here to pick up the pieces and help this good boy recover.
And he just a bog 0le lover boy, It’s hard to understand how someone can give up on a dog like Tig—a dog who once snuggled on couches, posed for Facebook photos, and wagged his tail just at the sound of his former companion's voice. Social media told the story of a loved companion, but the truth was a heartbreaking contrast. Sometimes what you see online is just a mirage.
Since arriving at his foster home, it appears he misses his family, a little confused, he doesn't understand what's happening to his world. On his first night, he cried in bed, likely longing for the familiar warmth of his loved ones. Despite his struggles, Tig, like all dogs, remains hopeful for a future filled with kindness and companionship.
On the lighter side of things, Tig is house trained, gets along with other dogs and kids, walks well on a leash (mostly), loves car rides, is heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccinations. He is also on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, microchipped and is neutered. Recently, he underwent surgery to remove two tumors, and while we are relieved to know that the cancerous mass has been excised, there is still uncertainty about his future.
We want to be transparent: although we are hopeful, we cannot guarantee how much time he has left. We hope to find someone with open heart to consider giving him a loving home. Regardless of the time he has left, we want him to enjoy the comfort and love he deserves in a place he can truly call his own.
