šŸ¦… No Thank You, Shadow Isn’t Ready to Mingle ā¤ļø

With Jackie still receiving critical care at Ojai Raptor Center, many people have wondered about the subadult eagles that have been visiting Shadow’s territory.

Some viewers have even given one of the visiting females the nickname ā€œJolene.ā€ šŸ˜„

But based on recent observations, Shadow doesn’t appear interested in making friends—or finding a replacement.

Multiple subadult eagles have been seen visiting the area, and Shadow’s response has been pretty clear: ā€œNo, thank you.ā€

In one recent sighting, as soon as the visiting eagle arrived, Shadow flew off to another tree.

It almost looked like he was saying:

ā€œI’m good over here.ā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ¦…

Shadow may technically be alone right now, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to mingle.

After everything Jackie and Shadow have shared—their territory, their nest, and years of raising a family together—it’s beautiful to see Shadow continuing to focus on his home rather than showing interest in the younger visitors.

Of course, we can’t know exactly what Shadow is thinking or feeling. But his observed behavior certainly doesn’t look like he’s welcoming a new mate.

So for now…

Sorry, Jolene. Shadow says NO THANK YOU. šŸ˜‚ā¤ļø

And we’re still holding onto hope that Jackie will recover and one day return home to the territory she and Shadow built together.

šŸ¦… Jackie’s Condition Has Become More Critical—Please Keep Her in Your Prayers ā¤ļø

Today is one of the hardest updates we’ve had to share.

Like so many of you, I’ve been trying to process the news coming from Ojai Raptor Center. My heart wanted to bring you better news, but I also want to be honest about where things stand while remaining hopeful.

Jackie has suffered a significant setback.

Her packed cell volume (PCV)—the percentage of red blood cells in her bloodstream—has now fallen below 10%, meaning her severe anemia has worsened again. Because of this, she has been moved back into the Intensive Care Unit, where she is receiving oxygen therapy, supportive treatment, and around-the-clock monitoring.

Earlier this week, Jackie underwent a contrast CT scan and a bone marrow biopsy. These advanced tests have provided important information, but her veterinary team is still waiting for additional specialized laboratory results. Despite extensive testing and consultation with experts across the country, the underlying cause of her illness has still not been identified.

This is an incredibly serious situation.

At the same time, it’s important to be accurate. Ojai Raptor Center has not said that Jackie is dying or that there is no hope. They continue to fight for her, and every decision they make is guided by one thing—what is in Jackie’s best medical interest.

Right now, Jackie is resting under the care of some of the finest wildlife veterinarians and raptor specialists in the country. They are doing everything humanly possible to give her every chance.

Many of us have watched Jackie through snowstorms, fierce territorial battles, and the incredible journey of raising her family. She has shown extraordinary resilience throughout her life. Today, she needs that same strength—and all of our prayers.

Let’s continue to surround Jackie, Shadow, Sandy, Luna, and the entire veterinary team with hope, compassion, and encouragement. Whatever lies ahead, let’s honor Jackie by standing together with the same quiet strength she has shown us for so many years.

šŸ’”šŸ›‘šŸ›‘šŸ›‘Jackie might pass soon—Please Keep Praying for Jackie. Here’s today message for Ojai Rapture Center ā¤ļø

Today’s update from Ojai Raptor Center is one of the most difficult we’ve received since Jackie was admitted.

Jackie remains in intensive care, where she is receiving oxygen therapy, supportive treatment, and around-the-clock monitoring. Despite the incredible efforts of her veterinary team, her blood values have declined once again.

Her packed cell volume (PCV) has now fallen below 10%, meaning her severe anemia has worsened, and her condition remains critical.

This week’s contrast CT scan and bone marrow biopsy have provided important new information, and additional specialized laboratory testing is still pending. Veterinarians continue working closely with wildlife specialists from across the country as they review the findings and determine the best course of treatment.

This is a heartbreaking update, and the road ahead is uncertain.

While Jackie’s condition is extremely serious, Ojai Raptor Center has not said that she is dying or that she cannot recover. Their team continues to fight for her, and every decision they make is guided by one priority—what is in Jackie’s best interest.

Now, more than ever, Jackie needs our prayers.

Please keep Jackie, Shadow, Sandy, Luna, and the incredible veterinarians and wildlife specialists caring for her in your thoughts. They are doing everything humanly possible to give this remarkable mama eagle every chance to recover.

We continue to hope. We continue to pray. And we continue to stand with Jackie.

šŸ¦… Jackie’s Fight Continues—Doctors Take Another Important Step ā¤ļø

Jackie’s journey toward recovery reached another important milestone as her veterinary team performed the most advanced diagnostic testing yet in their search for answers.

On August 5, veterinarians at Ojai Raptor Center performed both a contrast CT scan and a bone marrow biopsy to help determine the underlying cause of Jackie’s severe anemia.

The good news is that Jackie recovered well from anesthesia and safely returned to her recovery enclosure, where she continued receiving supplemental oxygen while she rested.

A team of veterinary specialists is now carefully reviewing the results of these procedures along with all of Jackie’s previous test results. Additional laboratory work is still pending, and at this time, Ojai Raptor Center has not announced a diagnosis, prognosis, or possible release timeline.

While we all wish for immediate answers, these advanced tests are another important step toward understanding Jackie’s condition and providing her with the best possible care.

The photos and video shared with this post were taken during Jackie’s earlier rehabilitation and do not show the August 5 procedures.

Please continue keeping Jackie, Shadow, Sandy, and Luna in your thoughts and prayers, and let’s also remember the extraordinary team at Ojai Raptor Center that continues working tirelessly on Jackie’s behalf.
