"Sheepish Impersonations"
When your dogs agree to a costume change... sort of. 😂

This week's challenge was all about Humor, so Churro and Queso volunteered (well, tolerated) a face swap with a couple of bighorn rams. Queso leaned into it like a total pro. Churro was a lot less convinced.

Which brother do you think pulled off the look better, Queso or Churro?

So long to summer, hello to a little taster 🍉

Ever wondered what it's like to work with me, without diving into a full custom session? I'm opening THREE spots for Limited Edition "So Long to Summer" sessions this September, and they're exactly that: a taster.

I have the concept and the location, so you just show up with your dog (or dogs, bring the whole crew if that's your life). We'll start with a summer snack and I'll capture all the tongue-out, happy-mess magic.

Then we'll walk to my favorite silhouette spot for sunset, to capture your dog solo or both of you together, whatever feels right. Running, jumping, a round of tug, or a quiet moment forehead to nose, we'll let it take shape naturally against the Colorado evening sky.

This one comes in at $95 instead of my usual $195. Same effort, same eye, just a pre-set idea instead of one we craft together from scratch. (Artwork is ordered separately afterward, more on that when you reach out!)

"Bone Appétrail"
The things Queso & Churro put up with for a photo. 😅🦴

This week's setup was a literal trail of biscuits leading straight to Queso's face, and let me tell you, the patience these two showed waiting their turn deserves its own award. (There was drool. So much drool. 💦😂)

What's the most ridiculous thing you've done to get your dog to look a certain way for a photo?

“Pixar Puppy”
Churro picked up a hotspot while we were camping last weekend (swimming plus Nebraska humidity turned out to be a bad combo). We caught it early, so a few days in the cone should do the trick, and honestly, he's been such a good sport about it. Every time I take it off to let him breathe (with close supervision) and it's time to put it back on, he just offers his head right through the opening like it's no big deal. Meanwhile I couldn't resist sneaking in a little photo opp along the way. 😂 Healing vibes for our boy, he'll be back to his usual antics soon. 💛

"Melon Muzzle"
There's nothing more summer than a lake, a camper, and golden retrievers losing their minds over watermelon. 🍉 Churro inhaled his slice in about two seconds flat, zero chill whatsoever. Queso, ever the gentleman, took his time and still managed to look like a snack thief extraordinaire. Peak Golden Retriever Summer Energy right here.

“Golden Totem”
We upsized into a condo about three times the size of our old one, and somehow it still feels tiny. 😅 When it came time to create wall art for the new place, I asked for Queso & Churro’s help to create something visually squishy. After all, they are our resident door blockers & speedbumps, regardless of how much space we have. 🐾

I always encourage my clients to order wall art so their dog's face gets to live somewhere better than a phone screen, and this is an example of me eating my own dog food. 😂 Practice what you preach, dog version, bwahahahaha.

Tag someone whose dog also blocks doorways and deserves to be on a wall for it.

“Stretch”
This is Queso, mid-nap, mid-experiment. 🐾

I was testing out a new technique this week and he was my very willing (aka unconscious) model. It didn't quite work out the way I planned, but that's kind of the deal with trying new things. Some weeks you get the shot, some weeks you get a nap and a lesson learned.

Either way, he's still the goodest test subject a girl could ask for.

"Snout Strokes"
Meet Queso, resident fine art installation artist. 🐶

Every week he produces new work on our sliding door. The medium is nose. The gallery wall happens to be a black furniture cover. And the result is, apparently, wabi-sabi perfection.

Should I frame it or wipe it down? 😂

This is dog ownership. It's messy and impermanent and absolutely beautiful. 🖤

"The Shape of Love”
Some sessions end with ice cream. Some end with magic. This one ended with both. 🍦💙

Melanie and her trio, Kailani, Bemo, and Mena, had quite the evening: dogs jumping into arms, impressive sit-pretties, treats, cuddles... and then the sun went down and Colorado did that thing it does.

I love when a session surprises me. This one absolutely did.

"Foxy Geometry"
Fox kits are apparently my alarm clock now. 🦊🧡 I dragged myself out of bed before sunrise (twice!), kept a respectful distance, and these little ones could not have cared less that I was there. They just went about their adorable business while I tried not to completely lose my mind. It was SO worth it. 🌅
