The post from this breeder has a mountain of 🚩🚩🚩red flags!
🚩Taking “investments” - your breeder should not need deposits. NEVER give money to someone for something that they don’t have yet. If you can’t touch it, you shouldn’t be paying for it. If a breeder needs working capital to whelp a litter should they be breeding? This has been normalized in dog breeding but it needs to stop. It’s a tool to create FOMO in potential puppy buyers, nothing more than a marketing tactic. Gallant Gun Dogs doesn’t ask for deposits until the puppies are whelped and healthy.
🚩“If you have an investment…contact us so we can begin sorting who is getting what…” Absolutely not!!! The breeder should already know who wants what and why, and they should be contacting YOU to confirm. It’s the breeder’s responsibility to pair the puppy to the buyer, and it’s the first step in fostering a supportive relationship for the life of the dog. At Gallant Gun Dogs we’ll always reach out to you, keep you informed, and provide advice and support whenever you need it.
🚩Overall condescending message. This breeder sounds like they think pretty highly of themselves. You can be proud of your dogs and pairings, and you should be if you’re doing it right. But it doesn’t need to come with the attitude. Stay humble and approachable; it’s highly likely that there’s someone out there doing it better than you are.
Feel free to reach out to Gallant Gun Dogs any time for information on how to talk to breeders, what questions to ask, and for referrals to quality breeders in any sporting breed. We’re happy to help where we can! Our goal is always to pair you with the right puppy, never to sell you a dog. And, feel free to window shop!!! We love talking about our dogs.
We will not have available pups for 2026 but are referring potential small munsterlander buyers to Fall GunDogs, Teufel Hunden Hunting Dogs, and Jägerskirche Kennels.
