For the next few weeks we will be featuring some of our senior and special needs kitties, the ones who are usually overlooked and passed on by visitors because their age, or health issues makeing them "less than" the perfect cat most look to adopt.
These kitties deserve just as much love and affection as the rest and we just want to introduce you to some of them.

Peanut.

This 17-year-old girl is a no nonsense affectionate kitty.
Peanut had her teeth removed at age 16 due to an infection, but has no major health issues other than bouts of rhinitis and allergies.
She is a happy eater who loves her purina One Wet and Dry foods, but is also very food curious, often looking to investigate what you/we are eating, and try to sneak a taste.

She will tolerate other kitties and calm pups, as long as they approach her respectfully and accept her boundaries regarding her personal space, but she would most likely be happiest as a lone cat in a quiet home, calling the shots and being the center of attention.
And boy does this girl love attention.

Affectionate and attention-seeking, she likes to follow you around the house and curl up close to you, be it on the couch or in your bed, and she has the cutest little snores.
Just as you and me, she can occasionally have a "moment" if she feels the need for space, but her moods are shortlived.
She is very nimble for an older cat, she gets around very well and enjoys cat nip and playing with a string.

Peanut is adoptable and would love to find her forever home.

Senior and/or special needs kitties can sometimes mean prescription/specialist foods, regular medications and/or veterinary checkups etc and yes, the costs soon add up for any shelter.
That does not mean we will leave any of these babies behind.
If you would like to adopt or visit with Peanut or any of our other senior or special needs kitties, please contact us.

If you would like to sponsor any of Domino's senior or special needs kitties, or if you would like to donate towards our veterinary costs with a single donation or a set monthly amount, please use the paypal link below and mark your payment either with the name of your chosen kitty, or with with "Veterinary Costs".
Thank you for taking the time to meet Peanut.

Every donation helps.
All contributions and donations are tax deductible.

It is with broken hearts that we announce that our beloved wandering spirit Rodney has crossed the rainbow bridge.

The break in his leg proved irrepairable and with his temperature steadily rising as an infection had started to spread, his systems started to fail.

At his age and due to the severity of the break and the infection, amputation was not a viable solution.
Our sweet boy was in severe pain and we could not prolong his suffering.

He slipped quietly across the rainbow bridge and we take great comfort in knowing that the only scars in heaven, are on the hands that hold him now.

We will leave his pinned fundraiser open for a period of time for anyone who may wish to make a donation towards his veterinary fees or contribute to Domino's emergency veterinary fund in his memory.

Car 1 - Rodney 0
Battered and bruised and with a broken tibia and a vet bill fully expected to land on the wrong side of the $2000 mark, Rodney is not having his best day today.

Domino's Cat Rescue in Palm City, Florida is asking for your help.
Rodney is immobilized and medicated and a decision will be made by the vet today when it comes to cast vs surgery.
Vet bills are never easy, but the unexpected ones that will hit you out of the blue are the budget breakers for small independent non-profits like Domino's.

We have set up a Go Fund me for Rodney and ask our followers please to share it so that we may get the word out there.
We know that many are not in a position to donate, but a share is free and would help us shine light on Rodney's situation.

We have had some questions about payments by check in the past and if you wish to make a donation by check, please make it payable to Domino's Cat Rescue League Inc and send it using the following secure po box address:

A very special adoption alert.

As you all know, we lost our wonderful "Bob the Builder" when Mark passed suddenly. He is deeply missed by us all, but none missed him more than our long time resident Mandy.
Though Mark was loved by all the cats, Mandy and Mark bonded and wherever Mark went, Mandy would be sure to follow.
We would see Mark climb into the golf cart to head to the front/ back of the property and Mandy would hop right on with him.
Mark loved his "special girl" and planned to adopt Mandy and give her the forever home all cats deserve.

After Mark passed so suddenly, nothing made us here at Domino's happier than to hear that Mandy would indeed get her forever home, loved and cared for by Mark's family.

Thank you to Mark's family for opening your hearts, lives and arms to Mandy. We can see Mark now, smiling as he sits on a golfcart just past the Rainbow Bridge, surrounded by kitties wanting to 'go for a ride".

Saturday we said goodbye to the last of Mama Cat's kitties as little George, who is now named Scout, left to start his new life with forever dad David H. Grant.
Parting with any of our cats can be hard as they all hold a special place in our hearts, but the joy we feel knowing they will go to a safe and loving forever home by far trumps everything.
Good luck sweet Scout.
Suddenly the kitten room is empty...

But there is still the issue of Mama Cat's ever growing belly....

It is with great sadness that we here at Domino's announce the sudden passing yesterday of our good friend and resident handy man and builder; Mark from Burlyguys.

From the day 6 months ago when he came down to visit and ended up volunteering for a few hours on the spot, up until yesterday, Mark was our big hearted chatterbox "who could".
Over these last 6 months, he became a vital part of Domino's, securing a position as our resident "Bob the Buider" getting work started on our new fencing project, heading up the crew when it came to getting Domino's House roof replaced and pitching in wherever there was a job to be done and project to start.
A gentle giant with a heart of gold who would talk your ears off given half the chance, he was loved by every cat on the property, as well as the staff and volunteers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Thank you Mark, for everything

R.I.P.

UPDATE....
Little Georgie has been adopted and will be setting out on his new adventure with his forever Dad David H. Grant today.
This little charmer will remain forever in our hearts.

Brave little George got to go visit with the wonderful staff at Martin Downs Animal Hospital for his first shots and his microchip. Unfortunately he is a late bloomer and his.....has not both dropped so he will need to come back to us for Operation SOS to have that taken care of in 3-4 months but other than that, he is a happy, healthy boy ready to go to his forever home.

For the next few days we will be featuring some of our special needs kitties, the ones who are usually overlooked and passed on by visitors because health issues make them "less than perfect".
These kitties deserve just as much love and affection as the rest and we just wanted you to meet some of them.

So....our first one out of the gate is....

Chica.

Our "slightly" neurotic, very vocal and incredibly loving, beautiful and attention seeking 5 year old girl who just wants to say...

Hi!

A long-time resident of Domino's, Chica is an affectionate, vocal and funny beauty who unfortunately struggles with food sensitivity and allergies and who, from time to time, suffers outbreaks that leave her looking somewhat worse for wear as you can see.
She was born in August 2020 so is 5 years old. As a kitten she was adopted out twce but returned quickly due to GI upsets.
She has been with us ever since.

But for better or worse, her personality remains the same; vocal, loving and attention-seeking.

Special needs kitties often means special prescription food, medications etc and yes, the costs soon add up for any shelter.
That does not mean we will leave any of these babies behind.

If you would like to sponsor Chica or any of our other special needs kitties, or donate towards our veterinary costs with a single donation or a set monthly amount, please use the paypal link below and mark your payment either with the name of your chosen kitty, or with with "Veterinary Costs".

Thank you for taking the time to meet Chica.

Today is International Rescue Cat Day.
Established in England by Yorkshire Cat Rescue, the day highlights the importance of rescuing cats over purchasing them from breeders and pet stores and encourages the support of shelters, sanctuaries, adoptions, TNR and rescue work worldwide.

For our staff and our wonderful volunteers...
For each and every cat rescued, rehomed and saved...
For each furbaby calling Domino's home over the years, be it for a day, a week or for life...
And finally...
For all who have adopted, donated and helped us do what we do for 25 years...

This day is for you.😽
