High Desert Cutting is coming up and the work is getting done.

Some days the ranch just calls for all hands on deck.

Today the family showed up - pens got cleaned, horses got saddled, work got done.

That's the kind of people that make this place what it is. Not the buckles on the wall or the checks in the mail. The ones willing to grab a pitchfork or throw on a saddle.

Grateful for every single one of them.

January 1 is already too late to start looking.

In the horse industry, every horse adds a year to their age on January 1 - but that doesn’t mean your coming 2-year-old needs to sit untouched until the calendar changes.

Many of the best show horses are lightly started as long yearlings in November and December. Not pushed. Not drilled. Just given a thoughtful introduction to the basics and the time to learn without being rushed.

Those early weeks are about building confidence, introducing the saddle, establishing good responses and teaching a young horse how to learn.

If you have a coming 2-year-old you plan to send to training, now is the time to start thinking ahead. Jimmy is beginning to plan his November and December training string.

One of the most exciting parts of the Derby years is watching young horses start to really grow into themselves.

𝙋𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙉𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙨, owned by Jimmy & Alexa vanBelle, and 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙧, owned by Samantha Frank, are doing just that.

They’re getting faster. Stronger. More confident in their jobs. The pieces that once took a little more thought are starting to come together, and you can feel them becoming more sure of themselves every time they step into the pen.

There’s still plenty to learn—and that’s the fun part. We’re proud of where these two are headed and excited to see what they become as they continue to mature.

Good horses aren’t made overnight. Watching the process is half the reward.

Watching you grow as a horsewoman has been one of the greatest rewards. Your work ethic, determination, and willingness to keep learning have taken you from dreaming big to competing with the best.

The success is exciting, but what makes us the proudest is the kind of person you've become. You show up for the horses, put in the work when no one is watching, and handle both the wins and the setbacks with grace.

We can't wait to see what this next year has in store for you. Keep chasing your goals, stay humble, and enjoy every ride along the way.

There were plenty of moments to celebrate at the NWRCHA Summer Showdown, but one we especially want to recognize is Creek Cat Boonshine and owner Nicki Alves.

After a week of solid performances, Creek Cat Boonshine finished 3rd in the Open Futurity, and we couldn't be more proud of this talented horse and the team behind him.

Congratulations to Nicki on a well-deserved finish, and thank you for trusting us with the opportunity to develop and show such a special horse. It's always rewarding to see the hard work pay off.

Claira and CR Tuff Service “007” wrapped up an incredible week at the National High School Finals Rodeo as the 4th place team in the world!

There are a lot of miles, early mornings, late nights, tough lessons, and hard work behind an accomplishment like this. Watching Claira and 007 earn their way to Nationals, make the Short Go, and finish among the best in the country is something we'll be proud of for a long time.

Claira, you represented your family, your horses, and our little corner of Oregon incredibly well. And 007 proved once again just how special he is.

After two outstanding rounds, Claira vanBelle and CR Tuff Service "007" have earned their spot in the National High School Finals Rodeo Finals and are currently sitting 3rd in the average!

The hard work, early mornings, and dedication have led to this moment, and we couldn't be more proud of this team.

The Short Go begins today at 2:00 PM Pacific, and you can watch Claira and 007 compete live on The Cowboy Channel. They are 𝘿𝙧𝙖𝙬 19.
