Penelope may be one of the tiniest members of the flock, but don’t let that fool you… our sweet girl has a personality the size of a hurricane. 🌪️🤍

One minute she’s the spiciest, sassiest little Goffin’s cockatoo in the house.. side eye, attitude, and opinions about everything! The next minute she melts into the most tender, loving cuddle bug you’ve ever seen.

This sweet moment is the real Penelope… the girl behind the sass. The one who loves her hoomans with her whole tiny feathered heart. 💕

Proof that even the spiciest little birds can be the biggest love bugs. To think that she was labeled as “unhandleable.” Nope, she’s been with us for 5 years now and where she will remain!

Apparently it’s Saturday Dance Party in the bird room and Jazz the Ruby Macaw is the self-appointed DJ. 💃🦜

One minute he’s vibing, the next minute he’s throwing head bobs, wing shimmies, and that little side-step that says “yes hooman, this is MY jam.”

I don’t know who invited the disco king, but Jazz clearly understood the assignment today. If the music is on, the feathers are shaking, and the attitude is at a solid 11/10.

At this point we’re just the background dancers in Jazz’s Saturday concert tour. 🎶✨

Merlin has entered his ✨Villain Era✨

Freshly bathed.
Deeply offended.
Currently over in the corner on a small perch… absolutely soaked… staring at me like I have betrayed the sacred trust of all birdkind.

He did not consent to this moisture.
He did not request hydration of any sort.
He was minding his own fluffy {DRY} business.

Now he sits there, dripping, crest slightly askew, plotting my dramatic downfall. I can feel the monologue as he stares intently from across the room:

“Mother will pay for this injustice. I shall scream at absolutely nothing at 3:17am. I shall fling pellets with precision at 4:23am. Finally, I shall chew something extremely expensive at 5:12am.”

Meanwhile… he’s clean and looks like a disgruntled wet cotton ball.

Pray for me, y’all! 🫠

Shower time with the flock is never just shower time… it’s a full-blown bonding event!

What starts as “let’s get everyone fresh and clean” quickly turns into:

• Mango striking his best “majestic rainforest model” pose with the slow-mo David Hasselhoff water shake-offs
• Dramatic happy squeaks as he streaks across our bed like a naked little chicken
• And then… A surprise cuddle ambush with chittering kissy noises

And somehow.. every single time.. it becomes peek-a-boo time!

One minute he’s fluffing those gorgeous peachy feathers, the next he’s ducking under my blanket like, “You can’t see me.” Two seconds later, BAM! A giant crested head popping out like he just invented comedy!

Mango, the lovable Moluccan goofball, turns shower time into:
Clean bird ➡️ Snuggle bird ➡️ Velcro bird ➡️ “Hold me forever” bird

It’s the sweetest kind of chaos. Wet feathers. Big crest. Soft nuzzles. Happy big monster cockatoo kisses.

Honestly, if this is what bonding looks like, we’ll take shower time every day. 🤍🧡🩷

Chop & Hooman Prep Day is once again upon us.

Hooman menu: Navy Bean Soup w/Ham, Cowboy Cavier, Butternut Squash Soup, and Tuna Macaroni Salad. Also a few prepped side veggies to make dinners easier for the week.

Birb Menu:
- Cooked Quinoa
- Cooked Pearled Barley
- Curly Kale
- Radishes & Greens
- Celery
- Carrots
- Cauliflower
- Bell Peppers (Red, Orange, & Yellow)
- Green Beans
- Corn
- Turnip Greens
- Butternut Squash
- Cilantro
- Black Beans (Pressure cooked, not canned)
- Black Eyed Peas (Pressure cooked, not canned)
- Jalapenos w/seeds
- & Green Cabbage

Green apples were a small treat for everyone.

This hooman is pooped and my taste testers have full bellies including the husband and kids 😂

Who else does their some weekly food prep and parrots chop at the same time? I mean, I’m already chopping and making a mess.. complete with one or two sidekick taste testers to ensure premium food quality!

We cooked/prepped: Potstickers, Eggrolls, Fried Rice, Teriyaki Chicken, Jalapeno Popper Dip, Fresh Bread, Fresh Cinnamon Rolls (prepped to cook tomorrow AM), and Protein Blueberry Muffins all for the humans.

So, the flock’s fresh chop this week contains:

- Red/Orange Sweet Peppers
- Broccoli
- Bok Choy
- Green Cabbage
- Corn Kernels
- Kale
- Carrots
- Jalapeños
- Blueberries
- Barley

Tomorrow, I’ll start their sprouts to mix in as we go to keep’em fresh!

It is I, Marley the Macaw, Victim of Circumstantial Tater Evidence.

I humbly request your immediate legal representation in the matter of:

The Hooman v. Marley
(Alleged Charge: “Caught red-taloned in the mash potatoes when hooman wasn’t looking for half of second flat.”)

First of all — OBJECTION.

The hooman clearly and recklessly left mashed potatoes within lawful pecking range.

Secondly, I was performing a routine Carb Temperature & Texture Inspection.

Thirdly, I maintain that if the hooman did not wish to share, they should have maintained continuous visual surveillance of said taters.

The so-called “evidence” includes:
• Beak imprint
• Suspiciously fluffy foot
• My face (please refer to picture attached)

This is a smear campaign against a good birb with excellent morals and only mild impulse control.

Borb & Borb, I require:
✔️ Immediate squawk representation
✔️ Character witnesses (preferably cockatoos)
✔️ A dismissal based on Extreme Cuteness Doctrine

I await your counsel before I say anything further, as advised by the Constitution of the United States of Avian America.

**Sidenote: Marley was indeed a quick girl promptly sticking her whole beak into my sour cream and mash potatoes. This was quickly removed from her beak following the quick picture snap because well, it’s not good for her. She was not impressed by our actions.**
