We’re so grateful to be able to support an organization doing such incredible work for animals who deserve a chance at a happy, healthy life.

A little Sunday adventure, a little rescue love.

Jake and I are taking today to recharge our batteries with a trip to Door County to enjoy the fall colors. We’ll be sharing our adventures in our stories, but first, we want to take you on a little journey of our own.

Before Wicks Fur Change, there was Gandalf.

Back when we were able to foster, we welcomed a disabled Chow Chow puppy named Gandalf — GG for short. He was born with Bilateral Straight Leg Syndrome, and because his disability meant he didn’t fit a breeder’s plans, he was taken to a shelter to be euthanized.

But GG didn’t need to be “fixed” to deserve a life full of love. He just needed someone willing to meet him where he was.

So we brought him home, adjusted our lives to his needs, and loved him with our whole hearts. He got around a little differently, but that never made him any less deserving of a happy, fulfilling life. And we wouldn’t trade the time we had with him for anything.

That experience is one of the reasons we believe so deeply in rescue, and why the work of organizations like Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary means so much to us.

Yesterday, Chelsea had the opportunity to visit Safe Haven, meet some of the adoptable kitties, and chat with one of their incredible volunteers. Willow, Scooter, and Frogger definitely stole her heart!

So, who is Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary?
They’re a 501(c)(3) no-kill, cage-free sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding loving homes for cats with special needs and disabilities. From blindness and paralysis to FIV+, FeLV+, and other physical or psychological challenges, they believe a diagnosis or disability should never define an animal’s worth.

They rescue hundreds of animals each year and operate entirely on donations, working toward one powerful mission: “No pet left behind.”

Because Gandalf taught us something we’ll carry with us forever: different doesn’t mean less deserving. Every animal deserves the chance to live a life filled with love.

You know it’s officially fall when you’re standing at the farmers market in October thinking, “Well, I guess it’s coat weather now!”

We’re doing our best to stay warm this morning, but we’re out here and ready to see you!

“Why animal rescue?” We get asked that sometimes. This right here. This is why.

Our rescue partner (Rescue of the Collection), OPARI, recently shared an update about Doris, a puppy who was adopted into a loving home just days ago. When an unexpected medical emergency left her unable to see, OPARI stepped up to make sure she received the emergency care she needed.

Because rescue doesn’t end when an animal leaves the shelter or finds a home. Sometimes, it means showing up when the unexpected happens. It means being there when an animal needs help, even when the road gets difficult.

And that is exactly why we do what we do. 🐾

When you purchase a candle from Wicks Fur Change, you’re helping us do more for animals like Doris. At the end of every collection, we donate 20% of our profits to our featured rescue partner.

Why are we always talking about selling out a collection?

Because the more we sell, the greater the impact we can make. ❤️

Many of the rescues we partner with are nonprofit organizations that depend on donations, volunteers, and foster families to keep going. Medical emergencies, unexpected injuries, food, supplies, and everyday care all add up. Every dollar matters.

💔 Help Needed for Doris 💔

Our sweet girl, Doris, has already had her share of ups and downs.

After finding herself in rescue, Doris recently made a trip to the ER for a suspected insect bite that caused significant swelling. Thankfully, she pulled through, and we truly believed brighter days were ahead for our girl.

This past weekend, Doris was adopted by a wonderful family who were excited to begin their next chapter together with their new puppy. It felt like the happy ending she deserved.

But this morning, everything changed.
Doris woke up with a haze covering her eyes and is currently unable to see. She is on her way to UW now for emergency evaluation, and at this time, her prognosis remains unknown.

As always, Our Pack will be there for Doris every step of the way. We will be covering the costs of her visit and doing everything we can to ensure she receives the care she needs.

Sundays are for resetting.

In our house, Sundays are all about getting ourselves and our home ready for the week ahead.

The cleaning, the laundry, the meal prepping, and making a to-do list of all the candle duties waiting for us this week.

It’s our chance to reset, get organized, and make Monday feel a little less overwhelming. And one little thing that always makes its way into our routine? Lighting a candle.

There’s something about having a favorite scent filling the house while we tackle our never-ending to-do list. And when everything is finally done, the house is clean, and we can sit down and relax… that candle somehow makes it all feel complete. Like home.

Because sometimes it’s not just about the scent. It’s about the feeling that comes with it.
