‼️We did this with a 4 month old Dachshund and now we’re doing the same exercise with a 2 year old Dachshund. ‼️
Your dachshund isn’t trying to be impatient, you just haven’t tried this training exercise. The rules are simple, your Weiner Dog moves, or tries to rush to the bowl we will not reward (aka give them the bowl of food) instead we will pick it up until your sausage dog decides to give us a better behavior such as a sit, down or simply staying put.
This exercise can be confusing at first for your dog but so is everything else when trying to learn something new, but that’s ok because small wins turn in to big victories later on when you pair that with consistency.
Gus is a 2 year old dachshund client of mine that came to me because he is fearful, likes to invade his pack mates bowls and space and is reactive on leash. Gus is a good kid and very intelligent, as you can see it only took him around 40 seconds to understand the bowl wasn’t his until his owner said “Break” .
