325 gallon, custom Reef

We constructed the rock work at our shop . . . which allows us to play with ideas and concepts . . .while not having to lift heavy rocks into and out of an aquarium (the heaviest piece was 70 lbs)!

The goal, always, is to create a habitat for the many corals, fish and invertebrates that will call this display “home”. As a close second to that goal, we want to create something very unique and interesting to view.

Here is the “fly by” of our twin reefs theme.

On August 27 we announced a new project in Lincoln . . .which was a 325 gallon, custom reef built into the owner’s office wall!

With the system now up and running, we took pictures “along the way” and will share a progression of pictures each day this week.

This project was amazing due to the size and scope of the display. . .and also because we were able to design our work space for it. Please let us know what you think 🤔.

We love what we do . . . and we believe that love shows in everything that we do!

Time to brainstorm.

NMC contacted us after they saw our water wall at the Woodhouse LIncoln Dealership to discuss bringing one of their interior walls to life with water. The challenges are 1) they recently finished the renovation of the historic Omaha Box Company Building in Carter Lake and have moved in 2) structurally we are dealing with beams and will need to work around them 3) how much water should we put on the wall and finally 4) how do we get the most impact so that this amazing open floor plan benefits from our work?

We decided that an 8' to 10' stripe down the middle, centered between the openings, that runs about even to the top openings would work best. What do you think?

Happy Friday! This week’s Featured Friday goes to a very photogenic yellow tang. While trying to snap some awesome photos, this little guy had to make sure he was in most of them. Our anecdotal evidence suggests that yellow tangs are the most attention seeking fish.

. . .and so it begins.

2022 has started with a lot activity! First up? Two new installs / upgrades for customers who have been with us over a decade. A 90 gallon reef will entertain the residents, guests and staff at a local retirement community and the 150 gallon reef will be a focal point for children at a youth services facility!

This was an excellent opportunity to conduct some training. . . so we discussed design, plumbing and flow. . .and Ryan, CJ and Alex were excellent students. Celebrating our 32nd year, our tradition of excellence continues!

When a customer sends you a funny gift for Christmas. . . I thought it was entirely appropriate to continue the fun. . .by sending a quick thank you and a picture of said gift in action. 😂🤣 With that, we laughed via text. . . but when the laughing subsided, I was a bit unnerved by his next text, in which he declared, "this is one picture you will regret".

Fast forward a week. . . and in team meeting this morning. . . CJ came in bright and smiley wearing this T-Shirt. Are you kidding me?! We laughed and laughed and laughed in our meeting. Stewart. . . you are one-of-a-kind. . . I love your sense of humor and thank you for the fun!

Happy Friday! This week’s Featured Friday goes to our good buddy Jonny. He is a Tessalata eel who enjoys the occasional pike mackerel. We’ve offered him squid on multiple occasions, but he’s not a huge fan of tentacles so he politely declines. Swim on Jonny!
