In an effort to discourage wildlife from entering our residential areas, we ask residents/visitors to avoid intentionally feeding wildlife, other than the use of birdfeeders. If you feed your pets outside, PLEASE promptly dispose of leftovers as this can attract wildlife and vermin. Feeding/harassing wildlife is a risk to the public and feeding wildlife can be hazardous to the animals. Please call animal control, 405-793-5190, if you see this occurring.

Please join us in acknowledging the amazing work https://www.facebook.com/normananimalwelfare is doing to help reduce pet overpopulation in Norman! Great job, NAW, in not only spaying and neutering owned dogs and cats belonging to low income residents but expanding your feral cat program!

From the Norman Animal Shelter:
"🐱We are now offering our free, feral cat spay and neuter program 4 days a week, no appointment needed!

🐈‍🐈🐈‍Kitten season is in full swing, but you can still help curb the overpopulation of feral cat litters in Norman. If you are a Norman resident in city limits, you can bring in a feral cat in a live trap on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 8:15-8:30AM. You will then pick the cat up after 3:30PM to return to habitat the next day. You will be provided with discharge instructions to ensure the cat's safe return to habitat."

January 24 is Change a Pet's Life Day! This day is meant to focus on the many pets needing homes. We include changing your own pet's life!

* Spaying and neutering helps prevent several cancers in male and female cats and dogs.
*Neutering helps reduce aggression and a male dog's tendency to roam, many times seeking females in heat.
*Spaying and neutering prevents the unplanned births of puppies and kittens, many of which end up homeless in animal shelters and rescue groups.
