Sweet Greta has just joined the Silver Paws family, and though our time together will be short, our love for her is already endless. 💕

Greta was found in a ditch in Mustang, unable to move — her little body tangled in stickers and burrs. The animal control officers who picked her up did their best to trim away the mats, but the neglect was clear: her nails were so long they had curled over multiple times.

On top of that, Greta suffers from severe arthritis and a curved spine, and our vet has helped us understand that her journey is nearing its end. 💔 Until then, our mission is simple: to fill her remaining time with true ✨Golden Days ✨ … days full of comfort, joy, and love.

Greta will spend her final days wrapped in cozy blankets, enjoying yummy snacks, and being showered with all the care she’s always deserved. If you’d like to help us spoil her and make her last chapter extra special, your support means so much. 🐾

🌈 In Loving Memory of Lionel 🌈

We never even got to share Lionel’s welcome post before we had to say goodbye. His time with us was heartbreakingly short, but his life mattered—and his story deserves to be told.

Lionel came to Silver Paws as a fragile senior boy. From the start, it was clear his body carried more struggles than we hoped: our vet confirmed testicular cancer and a luxated lens in his eye that would need surgery to correct. His bloodwork looked good, so we made the decision to fight alongside him—as long as he wanted to keep fighting. We scheduled his surgery, wrapped him in soft blankets, and promised him the love he had been missing.

What we discovered quickly is that Lionel had the softest spirit. Gentle, sweet, and endlessly grateful—he soaked up every bit of comfort we could give. In his short time here, he finally got to know what it feels like to be seen, safe, and cherished.

Sadly, after surgery, Lionel’s tired body just couldn’t keep going. Surrounded by the people who loved him, he was set free from all pain. 🌈

Some might say we didn’t get enough time with him—but Lionel had enough time to know he was deeply loved. And that’s what matters most. ❤️

Run free, Lionel. You will never be forgotten. Until we meet again. ❤️🌈

🚨 Emergency Vet Bill Fundraiser 🚨

Our vet bill is sitting at $7,459 right now… and it’s still climbing. We’ve got a surgery and what started as a drop-off appointment that turned into emergency surgery TODAY, so that total is only going up.

With 40 seniors and special-needs animals depending on us, that breaks down to about $186.47 per animal.

Here’s the bit of good news: a generous donor has stepped up with a $1,500 match. Every dollar given right now is DOUBLED until we hit that amount. We’d also love to find more match sponsors to keep that momentum going.

🌈 Run Free, Bentley 🌈

Recently, we helped our beloved Bentley cross the rainbow bridge.

Bentley came to us pre-loved, after his mommy passed on, he already living with congestive heart failure and kidney failure. Thanks to the love and dedication of his Comfort Club foster and the right medications, he still had so many good days… full of snacks, sass, and that unforgettable bark.

When his needs changed, we adjusted his meds again to keep him comfortable. But recently, Bentley let us know it was time.

What did we love most about Bentley?
That bark (oh, that bark!). His unmatched spiciness (your fingers remember 🤫🤣). His stubborn streak—he wasn’t doing anything unless it was his idea first. And of course, his deep, passionate love for food.

Strong-willed. Opinionated. Endlessly endearing. He was perfect. 🫶🏻

When his appetite faded and it became harder for him to breathe, we had to make the hardest decision—the kind that puts love above all else.

People often ask why we do this. Why choose hospice? Why open our hearts to dogs who may not have much time? Bentley’s Comfort Club foster said it best:

“Sometimes our heart has to break a little so theirs never has to.” 💔

That’s why we do it. We love them fiercely. We love them fully. And we love them until the very end.

Bentley, you were cherished. You were seen. And you were so loved. Run free, sweet boy. We’ll carry you with us always. ❤️🌈

🍽️ Feed Me Friday 🍽️

Our seniors are just like people — everyone has their quirks at mealtime. Some crunch happily on their kibble, some prefer softer food, and then there are our picky eaters who look at their bowl like… “you’ve got to be kidding me.” 🤨

That’s where wet food saves the day. 💛 It helps keep our seniors motivated to eat, especially the ones who need a little extra encouragement to keep their strength up. Dry food keeps everybody’s bellies full, but wet food is the magic trick for the ones who need that special nudge.

Keeping both stocked means no one goes without, and every dog gets the meal that makes them happiest. 🐾
