A 2022 U.S. field study published in the Journal of Fish and Wildlife Management found that cats wearing a Birdsbesafe collar cover killed and brought home 61% fewer birds compared with cats wearing no collar. The reduction in birds recovered was statistically significant.

The study also found 37% fewer mammals and 47% fewer herpetofauna compared with when cats wore no collar.
